Severe periodontitis is prevalent in Down syndrome (DS). This study aimed to identify genetic variations associated with periodontitis in individuals with DS. The study group was distributed into DS patients with periodontitis ( = 50) and DS patients with healthy periodontium ( = 36). All samples were genotyped with the "Axiom Spanish Biobank" array, which contains 757,836 markers. An association analysis at the individual marker level using logistic regression, as well as at the gene level applying the sequence kernel association test (SKAT) was performed. The most significant genes were included in a pathway analysis using the free DAVID software. C12orf74 (rs4315121, = 9.85 × 10, OR = 8.84), LOC101930064 (rs4814890, = 9.61 × 10, OR = 0.13), KBTBD12 (rs1549874, = 8.27 × 10, OR = 0.08), PIWIL1 (rs11060842, = 7.82 × 10, OR = 9.05) and C16orf82 (rs62030877, = 8.92 × 10, OR = 0.14) showed a higher probability in the individual analysis. The analysis at the gene level highlighted PIWIL, MIR9-2, LHCGR, TPR and BCR. At the signaling pathway level, PI3K-Akt, long-term depression and FoxO achieved nominal significance ( = 1.3 × 10, = 5.1 × 10, = 1.2 × 10, respectively). In summary, various metabolic pathways are involved in the pathogenesis of periodontitis in DS, including PI3K-Akt, which regulates cell proliferation and inflammatory response.

Objectives: The primary objective of this review is to provide updated mechanisms that regulate ferroptosis sensitivity in cancer cells and recent advancements in drug targeting for ferroptosis as an antitumor therapy.
Methods: To achieve these objectives, a comprehensive literature review was conducted, analyzing recent studies on ferroptosis, including its cellular, molecular, and gene-level characteristics. The review involved an evaluation of advancements in ferroptosis drug research across various medical domains, with particular attention to novel therapeutic approaches in nano-medicine, TCM, and Western medicine.

The methylation- demethylation dynamics of RNA plays major roles in different biological functions, including stress responses, in plants. mA methylation in RNA is orchestrated by a coordinated function of methyl transferases (writers) and demethylases (Erasers). Genome-wide analysis of genes involved in methylation and demethylation was performed in pigeon pea.

Background/objectives: Patients with ovarian cancer commonly experience metastases and recurrences, which contribute to high mortality. Our objective was to better understand ovarian cancer metastasis and identify candidate biomarkers and drug targets for predicting and preventing ovarian cancer recurrence.
Methods: Transcripts of 770 cancer-associated genes were compared in cells collected from ascitic fluid versus resected tumors of an ES-2 orthotopic ovarian cancer mouse model.

() is associated with the development of various stomach diseases, one of the major risk factors for stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD). The infection score between tumor and normal groups was compared by single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA). The key modules related to infection were identified by weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA), and functional enrichment analysis was conducted on these module genes.
