The current understanding of deviations of human microbiota caused by antibiotic treatment is poor. In an attempt to improve it, a proof-of-principle spectroscopic study of the breath of one volunteer affected by a course of antibiotics for eradication was performed. Fourier transform spectroscopy enabled searching for the absorption spectral structures sensitive to the treatment in the entire mid-infrared region. Two spectral ranges were found where the corresponding structures strongly correlated with the beginning and end of the treatment. The structures were identified as methyl ester of butyric acid and ethyl ester of pyruvic acid. Both acids generated by bacteria in the gut are involved in fundamental processes of human metabolism. Being confirmed by other studies, measurement of the methyl butyrate deviation could be a promising way for monitoring acute gastritis and anti- antibiotic treatment.

Department of Pharmacy, Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, Affiliated Hospital of Medical School, Nanjing University, Nanjing 210008, China.

Introduction: The combination of antibiotics and warfarin is used frequently in clinical practice. However, the impact of this combination on the anticoagulant efficacy of warfarin remains uncertain, posing challenges to clinical decision-making. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of various antibiotics on the international normalized ratio (INR) values in hospitalized patients who were concurrently administered warfarin.

Introduction: Appropriate antibiotic use requires using the right antibiotic, at the right dose, for the right duration, and at the right time. Drug-resistant diseases cause numerous deaths globally a year, and antibiotic stewardship is a cornerstone in fighting antibiotic resistance. This study focuses on tracking the antibiotic prescribing practices in Palestine and improving future antibiotic prescribing.

Introduction: Multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria like Proteus species have led to more prolonged hospitalizations, fewer care choices, higher treatment costs, and even death. The present study aims to evaluate the prevalence of MDR Proteus species in clinical samples and to suggest the best therapeutic options for the MDR Proteus species.

Methodology: Clinical samples were collected randomly from five hospitals in Golestan Province, Iran, from February 2017 to July 2019.

Candida is a commensal fungus of clinical interest that commonly lives in oral cavity and intestine but can become an opportunist microrganism and cause severe infections. A serie of 10 aminochalcones were designed and synthetized to obtain compounds anti-Candida with potent and broad-spectrum activity. The most active compound J34 demonstrated excellent in vitro activity against Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida parapsilosis, Candida glabrata and Candida krusei with minimum inhibitory concentration between 1.
