Cinnamic acid (CA) possesses important cardiovascular effects such as cardioprotective, antiatherogenic, antihyperlipidemic and antioxidant, which predicts its potential role in the treatment of hypertension. The study was executed to investigate the antihypertensive potential of CA in Sprague Dawley (SD) rats followed by evaluation in diverse vascular preparations. Invasive blood pressure monitoring technique was used in normotensive and hypertensive rats, under anesthesia.

In addition to the well-known monomeric and polymeric forms of actin there is another unique thermodynamically stable state of this protein, called "inactivated actin" (I-actin). I-actin is formed at moderate concentration of a denaturant, release of Ca ions and/or ATP, or after heating. This state is a monodisperse associate and it has the same spectral characteristics regardless of the method of preparation.

Electrochemical aptamer-based biosensors (EABs) have been developed for multiple important biomarkers for their convenient and real-time features. However, the application of EABs in complex biological fluids has been limited by the rapid loss of sensitivity and selectivity due to inactivation and biofouling of aptamer probes and electrodes. To address this issue, we report the preparation of a simple hydrogel-protected aptamer-based biosensor (HP-EAB) for direct detection of Doxorubicin (DOX) in whole blood.

Background/objectives: This study focuses on the development and evaluation of novel alginate-poly[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride (PMETAC) microcapsules for encapsulating pancreatic islets to address insulin deficiency in diabetes.
Methods: In previous research, we fabricated and characterized PMETAC microcapsules, evaluating their stability and permeability in vitro. This study further probes the capsules in vivo, focusing on the functional activity of the encapsulated islets post-transplantation, their viability extension, and the assessment of the immunoprotective, antifibrotic properties, and biostability of the capsules.
