A confirmed African swine fever (ASF) outbreak in Nigeria was further investigated by partial sequencing of the and genes of ASF virus (ASFV). Results revealed the first-time presence of ASFV genotype II in Nigeria and West Africa. This finding has serious implications for control measures and food security.

Exploring and developing novel, low-cost, and environmentally friendly photovoltaic materials is a vital trend in the evolution of solar cell technology. The distinctive properties of alkali bismuth ternary sulfides have spurred increased research and application in optoelectronic devices. In this study, a novel method is reported for preparing NaBiS film by sequential thermal evaporation of NaS and BiS layers followed by heating post-treatment for the first time, as well as the preparation of solar cells with NaBiS as the light-absorbing layer.

Background: In recent years, cases of leishmaniosis have been described in animals housed in captivity in zoos in Spain [Bennett's wallaby (Macropus rufogriseus rufogriseus), orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus pygameus), and European otter (Lutra lutra)]. Some of these zoological parks are in endemic areas for both human and animal leishmaniosis, thus it should be very important to include this zoonosis in the differential diagnosis.
Methods: The study was carried out in two zoological parks in Madrid, Madrid Zoo and Faunia, and analyzed seven meerkats.

The great diversity of specialist plant-feeding insects suggests that host plant shifts may initiate speciation, even without geographic barriers. Pheromones and kairomones mediate sexual communication and host choice, and the response to these behaviour-modifying chemicals is under sexual and natural selection, respectively. The concept that the interaction of mate signals and habitat cues facilitates reproductive isolation and ecological speciation is well established, while the traits and the underlying sensory mechanisms remain unknown.

Objectives: This study determined the prevalence and risks of definite sleep bruxism (SB) among children and adolescents presenting for orthodontic treatment.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of 7-16-year-old subjects pursuing orthodontic treatment for the first time. The presence or absence of SB was determined using an overnight mandibular movement monitoring inertial measurement sensor, worn by each participant for two consecutive nights.

Cyanobacteria are important model organisms for studying the process of photosynthesis and the effects of environmental stress factors. This study aimed to identify the inhibitory sites of NaCl in the whole photosynthetic electron transport in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 WT cells by using multiple biophysical tools.
