Over a century of scientific inquiry since the discovery of v-SRC but still no final judgement on SRC function. However, a significant body of work has defined Src family kinases as key players in tumor progression, invasion and metastasis in human cancer. With the ever-growing evidence supporting the role of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in invasion and metastasis, so does our understanding of the role SFKs play in mediating these processes. Here we describe some key mechanisms through which Src family kinases play critical role in epithelial homeostasis and how their function is essential for the propagation of invasive signals. Video abstract.

CASK, a MAGUK family scaffold protein, regulates gene expression as a transcription co-activator in neurons. However, the mechanism of CASK nucleus translocation and the regulatory function of CASK in myeloid cells remains unclear. Here, we investigated its role in H5N1-infected macrophages.

CD8T cells within the tumor microenvironment (TME) are often functionally impaired, which limits their ability to mount effective anti-tumor responses. However, the molecular mechanisms behind this dysfunction remain incompletely understood. Here, we identified valosin-containing protein (VCP) as a key regulator of CD8T cells suppression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Intrinsic p53 activation restricts gammaherpesvirus driven germinal center B cell expansion during latency establishment.

Gammaherpesviruses are DNA tumor viruses that establish lifelong latent infections in lymphocytes. For viruses such as Epstein-Barr virus and murine gammaherpesvirus 68, this is accomplished through a viral gene-expression program that promotes cellular proliferation and differentiation, especially of germinal center B cells. Intrinsic host mechanisms that control virus-driven cellular expansion are incompletely defined.

Gynecomastia, the abnormal enlargement of male breast tissue, is a rare side effect associated with dasatinib. This drug is used in the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). We present a case of dasatinib-induced gynecomastia in a 52-year-old gentleman with CML who developed bilateral breast enlargement and tenderness after approximately four months of dasatinib treatment.

Objective: Sports-related concussions (SRCs) are commonly occurring injuries among athletic and recreationally active populations. SRCs can result in vestibular dysfunction that should resolve before returning to activity. It has been suggested that vestibular impairment is a factor that may influence recovery time.
