The presence of three species of the genus Anagyrus Howard (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae) parasitizing the obscure mealybug Pseudococcus viburni (Signoret) (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) in agricultural ecosystems of citrus, persimmon and ornamental plants from Eastern Spain is recorded. Anagyrus aligarhensis Agarwal Alam is recorded for the first time as parasitoid on this mealybug. Anagyrus fusciventris (Girault) is a new record for Spain. Anagyrus borrianensis sp. nov., reared as a specific primary parasitoid of this mealybug, is described and illustrated. The joint presence of Anagyrus pseudococci (Girault) and Anagyrus vladimiri Triapitsyn on citrus crops is confirmed. A key to species of Anagyrus parasitoids of Planococcus and Pseudococcus mealybugs in Eastern Spain is provided.

Until now, only 20 complete mitochondrial genomes have been sequenced, including those in this study. To enrich the diversity of mitochondrial genomes in Encyrtidae and to gain insights into their phylogenetic relationships, the mitochondrial genomes of two species of were sequenced, and the mitochondrial genomes of these species were compared and analyzed.

Functional response describes the number of hosts attacked by a parasitoid in relation to host densities and plays an important role by connecting behavioral-level processes with community-level processes. Most functional response studies were carried out using simple experimental designs where the insects were confined to a plain and small arena with different host densities during a fixed period of time. With these designs, other factors that might affect the functional response of parasitoids were not analyzed, such as fecundity, age, and experience.

The sex pheromone of the azalea mealybug, Crisicoccus azaleae (Tinsley, 1898) (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae), includes esters of a methyl-branched medium-chain fatty acid, ethyl and isopropyl (E)-7-methyl-4-nonenoate. These compounds are exceptional among mealybug pheromones, which are commonly monoterpenes. Determination of the absolute configuration is challenging, because both chromatographic and spectrometric separations of stereoisomers of fatty acids with a methyl group distant from the carboxyl group are difficult.

Risk assessments of chemical pesticides toward natural enemies are crucial for ensuring sustainable grapevine-integrated pest management. In this context, laboratory experiments were conducted to evaluate the toxicity of four insecticides (lambda-cyhalothrin, flupyradifurone, acetamiprid, and cyantraniliprole) and one fungicide (spiroxamine) commonly applied in German (European) vineyards on the pupae and adults of both , a parasitoid of the vine mealybug , and , a parasitoid of the European grapevine moth, . The tested pesticides did not significantly affect the development of the pupal stage inside mealybug mummies or the emergence of the parasitoid .
