Three new species namely Drassodex tajikistanicus sp. n. (♂), Zelotes anatolyi sp. n. (♂) and Zelotes khatlonicus sp. n. (♂♀) are described from Khatlon Region of Tajikistan. A new combination is proposed as Poecilochroa hamipalpis (Kroneberg, 1875) comb. n. (ex. Echemus), accompanied with a redescription of the species. Nomisia palaestina (O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1872), a species previously known from Greece to Iran is recorded in Tajikistan (and Central Asia) for the first time, which is the northeasternmost record of this species globally. Descriptions, figures, diagnoses and local distribution maps of the treated species are provided.

The spider fauna of Algeria's Saharan region is currently little understood, even though some information is available but it remains either very old or insufficient. This study aimed to deepen our understanding on this group of arachnids in this hyper-arid land. The study was conducted in Ghardaïa province (Northern Sahara, Algeria).

Background: Urbanisation is a rapidly growing global phenomenon leading to habitat destruction, fragmentation and degradation. However, urban areas can offer opportunities for conservation, particularly through the presence of green spaces which can even provide important habitats for imperilled species. Spiders, which play crucial roles in ecosystem functioning, include many species that can successfully exploit urban environments.

Large-scale barcoding projects help to aggregate information on genetic variability of multiple species throughout their ranges. Comparing DNA sequences of both non-conspecific and conspecific individuals from distant parts of their ranges helps to compare level of genetic isolation-by-distance patterns in different species and adaptive types. We compared mitochondrial CO1 gene sequences of 223 spiders from Georgia (Caucasus), representing 124 species and eight families, with 3097 homological sequences from spiders mostly from Europe, but also from other parts of the World.
