Purpose Of Review: In the recent two decades, technological breakthrough has tremendously expanded the scope of transurethral prostate surgery. New gadgets and energy devices keep emerging to tackle benign prostatic obstruction, which was dealt with mainly by transurethral resection of prostate in the old days. Although this trend appears fascinating, it also means that urologists need quality training to attain surgical safety in performing these new surgeries. E-learning and simulation training may play an important role in modern urology training.

Recent Findings: In this review, we would describe, using up-to-date evidence, the key components of simulation training, the types of simulators currently in use and their respective advantages and limitations.

Summary: Modern simulation technology enables surgical training in a realistic, reproducible and risk-free environment. Simulation training has been proven to improve both performers' confidence and objective scores in various transurethral prostate surgeries. Its use should therefore be advocated.

To compare the efficacy and safety of low-power holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (LP-HoLEP) with plasma kinetic resection of prostate (PKRP). Sixty-three patients treated with transurethral LP-HoLEP (observation group) and 68 patients treated with transurethral PKRP (control group) at Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from November 2019 to November 2022 were retrospectively compared with regard to operation duration, intra-operative blood loss, prostate resection ratio, postoperative bladder irrigation time, postoperative indwelling urinary catheter time, postoperative urinary incontinence incidence, International Prostate Symptom Scale (IPSS), maximum urine flow rate (Qmax), and residual urine volume (RUV). In both groups, postoperative IPSS, Qmax, and RUV were significantly improved compared to preoperative values (P < 0.

Background: Hospitalization for Transurethral Prostate Resection (TURP) involves circadian rhythm disturbance - a possible cause of Postoperative Neurocognitive Disorder (POCD) in elderly patients. This study investigated whether melatonin ameliorated this effect.

Methods: A double-blind, randomized clinical trial used a battery of neuropsychological tests to evaluate cognitive performance of 118 patients aged ≥ 60, before TURP with spinal anesthesia, and at 21- and 180-days PO.

Background: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is non-cancerous growth of the prostate gland which surrounds the urethra. For men with BPH who are older than 50, a prostatectomy is a common surgical procedure. Open prostatectomy is still more prevalent in regions with limited access to advanced surgical procedures like transurethral resection of the prostate and robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy.

Aim: To investigate the clinical efficacy of transurethral columnar balloon dilation of prostate (TUCBDP) in the treatment of small-volume benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and provide the optimal treatment for the surgical treatment of small volume benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 106 patients with small-volume BPH who underwent surgical treatment at the Department of Urology, Xiangya Changde Hospital from December 2023 to January 2024. The patients were divided into two groups based on the type of surgery received: TUCBDP group (n = 53) and transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) group (n = 53), which serves as the control group.

Aim: Prostate cancer (PCa) is a common malignant tumor in men. This study aimed to explore the predictive value of serum biomarkers combined with ultrasound parameters for postoperative Gleason grading in PCa.

Methods: This study included 65 PCa patients who underwent transurethral resection of the prostate in our hospital from January 2021 to December 2023.
