Objective: To evaluate changes in choroidal thickness in presbyopes, when reading with regular glasses versus choroidal control glasses, in patients with or without Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD).
Methods: This was a pilot study on short-term axial length (AL) in 33 eyes of 24 presbyopic patients aged 60 to 80 years, assigned to two age-matched groups, with or without AMD. About them, changes in choroidal thickness were evaluated with ocular biometry through indirect measurements of axial length at baseline, after 20' of reading with conventional lenses, and after another 20' of reading with peripheral hyperopic defocus glasses.
Background: Uncorrected refractive error (URE) is a readily treatable cause of visual impairment (VI). This study provides updated estimates of global and regional vision loss due to URE, presenting temporal change for VISION 2020 METHODS: Data from population-based eye disease surveys from 1980-2018 were collected. Hierarchical models estimated prevalence (95% uncertainty intervals [UI]) of blindness (presenting visual acuity (VA) < 3/60) and moderate-to-severe vision impairment (MSVI; 3/60 ≤ presenting VA < 6/18) caused by URE, stratified by age, sex, region, and year.

The objective of this study was to assess the effect of sustained reading on the temporal changes in the wavefront error in the presbyopic eye. The wavefront aberration of the eyes was measured using an IRX3 Shack-Hartmann aberrometer before and after (immediately, 5 min, and 10 min after) a reading task. Temporal changes in C20, C40, and C3-1 coefficient values of the eyes were plotted, showing a predominant number of V-shaped patterns (for C40 and C3-1) and inverse V-shaped patterns (for C20) among the study group, and the percentages (between 27 and 73%) were reported.

Introduction: The phase 3, randomized, vehicle-controlled, 14-day VIRGO study evaluated the efficacy and safety of twice-daily dosing of pilocarpine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution 1.25% (Pilo) in presbyopia. On VIRGO exit, a companion study was conducted to assess the patient experience with presbyopia and satisfaction with Pilo.

Background: Presbyopia is an age-related condition that causes a decreased ability to focus on nearby objects. Multifocal contact lenses are commonly used to address this issue. However, there seems to be a notable dissatisfaction among multifocal contact lens wearers.
