Acute intoxication by toluene usually follows intentional inhalation to achieve a "high", which may lead to repeated use due to toluene's reinforcing properties. In both acute and chronic intoxication brain function is primarily affected. Neuronal and glial elements participate in toluene's reinforcing properties and chronic toxicity, yet the targets underlying acute toxicity remain unknown.

Traumatic pseudoaneurysms of the middle meningeal artery (MMA) are rare and have a poor prognosis due to their high risk of rupture. This study presents a case of a 53-year-old man who experienced rupture of an MMA pseudoaneurysm 10 days after craniotomy for an acute subdural hematoma caused by a blunt head injury. He also had an accompanying temporal bone fracture extending to the skull base.

The internal carotid artery occlusion caused by head and neck trauma, also known as traumatic intracranial artery occlusion, is relatively rare clinically. Traumatic skull base fracture is a common complication of traumatic brain injury. Traumatic skull base fracture is one of the causes of traumatic internal carotid artery occlusion.
