Objectives: Patients presenting with functional neurological symptoms like non-epileptic seizures and weakness have an underlying psychological component and tend to persist for a prolonged time, despite repeated evaluations and interventions. Ayurveda, with its holistic approach to health and disease, can provide better management for such disorders, in the form of customized treatment protocols and unique methods of psychotherapy.

Case Presentation: The patient presented with drooping of both eyelids, initially diagnosed as ocular myasthenia, and later found to have psychogenic pseudo-myasthenic ptosis.

The specific characteristics of neuromuscular immune-related adverse events(irAEs)including myasthenia gravis have not been elucidated because the frequency is generally low, ranging from 1-2% of cancer patients undergoing therapy with programmed cell death 1(PD-1)inhibitors. Inflammatory myopathy(myositis)is also one of the representative neuromuscular irAEs. A variety of studies have demonstrated that myositis as an irAE is often accompanied by ocular muscle symptoms, which physicians have often termed "myasthenia-like" or "pseudo-myasthenic".

A 32-year-old, HIV-positive homosexual with Kaposi's sarcoma was given subcutaneous interferon-A (IFN) for two- and a-half months. The patient complained of ocular symptoms (ptosis of the left eyelid and intermittent diplopia) after the application of IFN-A. These symptoms persisted for the period of treatment and subsided after therapy was stopped.
