Surveillance of R-plasmids.

Acta Microbiol Acad Sci Hung

Published: March 1978

The surveillance of R-plasmids consists of: (1.) Ecological and epidemiological investigations. (1.1.) Prevalence of R-plasmids in pathogenic and apathogenic bacteria occurring in the biotic environment (man, animal); in the abiotic environment (sewage, food, feed); under high selection pressure (hospital, animal production, plant production). (2.) Biological investigations. (2.1.) Genetic properties of R-plasmids: (2.2.) Plasmid induced variations of the properties of the host bacteria (virulence, phage pattern, antigenic pattern, serological properties). The problems resulting from plasmid-mediated drug resistance call for a strict chemotherapeutic drug policy with the regard to ecological processes.

Meat ducks as carriers of antimicrobial-resistant harboring transferable R plasmids.

J Vet Sci

September 2024

Research Unit for Microbial Food Safety and Antimicrobial Resistance, Department of Veterinary Public Health, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok 10330, Thailand.

Importance: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a serious public health threat. AMR bacteria and their resistance determinants in food can be transmitted to humans through the food chain and by direct contact and disseminate directly to the environment.

Objective: This study examined the AMR characteristics and transferable R plasmids in isolated from meat ducks raised in an open-house system.

Unlabelled: Control measures are being introduced globally to reduce the prevalence of antibiotic resistance (ABR) in bacteria on farms. However, little is known about the current prevalence and molecular ecology of ABR in bacterial species with the potential to be key opportunistic human pathogens, such as on South American farms. Working with 30 dairy cattle farms and 40 pig farms across two provinces in central-eastern Argentina, we report a comprehensive genomic analysis of third-generation cephalosporin-resistant (3GC-R) , which were recovered from 34.

Introduction: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) ± endoscopic sphincterotomy, and after perforation (ERCP-P), which is a common method used for the diagnosis in the past and treatment today in hepatopancreatobiliary cases, is a rare complication with high mortality. While surgery has been at the forefront in perforations after ERCP in previous years, conservative treatment is widely accepted today, except for some special conditions. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of ERCP-P in a hepatobiliary center, the outcome of the treatment modalities applied, and the risk factors for mortality due to perforations.

Spirituality/religion (S/R) is clinically relevant to recovery from alcohol use disorders (AUDs)/substance use disorders (SUDs) and also associated with less self-injury; however, the interplay of these factors has not been adequately evaluated. Participants ( n = 1443) were culled from a larger study among psychiatric patients. We assessed for S/R using self-report measures, and medical records were reviewed for demographics, clinical diagnoses, psychiatric medications, and self-harm engagement.

Research Unit for Microbial Food Safety and Antimicrobial Resistance, Department of Veterinary Public Health, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok 10330, Thailand.

This study aimed to determine the epidemiology and association of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) among and in Thailand. The ( = 1047) and ( = 816) isolates from pigs, pork and humans were screened for 18 replicons including HI1, HI2, I1-, X, L/M, N, FIA, FIB, W, Y, P, FIC, A/C, T, FIIAs, F, K and B/O using polymerase chain reaction-based replicon typing. The ( = 26) and ( = 3) isolates carrying IncF family replicons, ESBL and/or genes were determined for FAB formula.
