Nasal Valve Considerations in Mohs Reconstruction.

Otolaryngol Clin North Am

January 2025

Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, 450 Clarkson Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11201, USA. Electronic address:

Airway obstruction is a possible sequela following reconstruction of the nose after Mohs excision of skin cancers. While the principles and goals of tissue replacement after Mohs micrographic surgery are well-established, less attention has been paid to the evaluation of the nasal airway after reconstruction. Reconstructive planning begins with understanding the risk factors associated with the development of nasal valve compromise.

Objective: This study was to explore the factors associated with prolonged hospital length of stay (LOS) in patients with intracranial aneurysms (IAs) undergoing endovascular interventional embolization and construct prediction model machine learning algorithms.

Methods: Employing a retrospective cohort study design, this study collected patients with ruptured IA who received endovascular treatment at Jingzhou First People's Hospital during the inclusion period from September 2022 to December 2023. The entire dataset was randomly split into training and testing dataset with a 7:3 ratio.

Lower limb joint reaction forces during sit-to-stand and stand-to-sit movements in stroke patients with spastic hemiplegia.

J Electromyogr Kinesiol

January 2025

Research Academy of Grand Health, Faculty of Sports Sciences, Ningbo University, Ningbo, China. Electronic address:

Objective: We investigated the characteristics of hip, knee, and ankle joint reaction forces (JRFs) in stroke patients with spastic hemiplegia during sit-to-stand (Si-St) and stand-to-sit (St-Si) movements and explored the relationship between JRFs and joint moments.

Methods: Thirteen stroke patients with spastic hemiplegia and thirteen age-matched healthy subjects were recruited in this study. Three-dimensional motion capture system and force plates were employed to collect kinematic data and ground reaction forces during Si-St and St-Si tasks.

Objective: Around 30% of people with schizophrenia are refractory to antipsychotic treatment (treatment-resistant schizophrenia). Abnormal structural neuroimaging findings, in particular volume and thickness reductions, are often described in schizophrenia. Novel biomarkers of active brain pathology such as neurofilament light chain protein are now expected to improve current understanding of psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia.

Background: Large language models have shown remarkable efficacy in various medical research and clinical applications. However, their skills in medical image recognition and subsequent report generation or question answering (QA) remain limited.

Objective: We aim to finetune a multimodal, transformer-based model for generating medical reports from slit lamp images and develop a QA system using Llama2.
