A 78-year-old man with newly diagnosed treatment-naïve chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) was referred to a pulmonary clinic for 1 month of dry cough and dyspnoea on exertion. Further workup with CT of the chest showed patchy ground-glass opacities predominantly on the right side. The patient was started on empiric antibiotic for presumed community-acquired pneumonia but did not have any improvement in his symptoms and eventually required supplemental oxygen. Bronchoscopy with bronchoalveolar lavage from the right middle lobe showed cysts on Grocott methenamine silver stains. The patient was HIV negative. He was placed on pneumonia (PJP) treatment with clindamycin and primaquine due to history of significant allergy to sulfa drugs. The patient's symptoms completely resolved after a 21-day course of treatment and no longer needed supplemental oxygen. This case highlights the importance of keeping PJP infection in differential diagnosis in both treated and untreated patients with CLL with dyspnoea and pulmonary infiltrates.

Background: The association of fragmented QRS (fQRS) with many cardiac pathologies such as cardiac fibrosis has been described previously. Paraaortic adipose tissue (PAT) is thought to be associated with many cardiac diseases and there is only one publication on its echocardiographic evaluation.

Aims: To describe the possible relationship between fQRS and PAT.

The definition of high-risk (HR) multiple myeloma (MM) is still a matter of debate. We prospectively evaluated the HR detection using FISH in combination with SKY92 gene expression profiling in 258 MM patients (newly diagnosed [ND] MM:  = 109; relapsed/refractory [RR] MM:  = 149). HR SKY92 was significantly enriched in RRMM (57/121, 47.

Background: Prostate cancer was the fourth most diagnosed cancer worldwide in 2022. Radical treatments and androgen deprivation therapy benefit newly diagnosed patients but impact quality of life, often leading to castration-resistant prostate cancer. Short-term dietary changes significantly affect the gut microbiota, which differs markedly between prostate cancer patients and healthy individuals, impacting both cancer progression and treatment response.

Background: Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) improves glycemic control and quality of life. Data on glycemic indices and fear of hypoglycemia (FoH) in newly diagnosed T1DM patients are limited.

Aim: To assess the impact of initiating intermittently scanned CGM (isCGM) within 1-6 months of diagnosis on glycemic control and FoH in adults with T1DM.
