Heart failure (HF), a chronic and progressive disease, is increasing in prevalence worldwide and is associated with increased hospitalizations and death. Despite notable improvements in medical therapy for HF, patients are still at risk of future negative outcomes. Current guidelines recommend four classes of medication for treating patients with HF, deemed guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT).

The astroglial glutamate transporter in the hippocampus and anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) is critically involved in chronic pain-induced cognitive and psychiatric abnormalities. We have previously reported that LDN-212320, a glutamate transporter-1 (GLT-1) activator, attenuates complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA)-induced acute and chronic nociceptive pain. However, the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying GLT-1 modulation in the hippocampus and ACC during chronic pain-induced cognitive deficit-like and anxiety-like behaviors remain unknown.

Background: Survivorship after coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) critical illness may be associated with important long-term sequelae, but little is known regarding mental health outcomes.
Research Question: What is the association between COVID-19 critical illness and new post-discharge mental health diagnoses.
Study Design: AND METHODS: We conducted a population-based cohort study in Ontario, Canada (January 1, 2020-March 31, 2022).

Nanoplastics (NPs) are gaining increasing attention due to their widespread distribution and potential environmental and biological impacts. Spanning a variety of ecosystems - from soils and rivers to oceans and polar ice - NPs interact with complex biological and geochemical processes, posing risks to organisms across multiple trophic levels. Despite their growing presence, understanding the behavior, transport, and toxicity of nanoplastics remains challenging due to their diverse physical and chemical properties as well as the heterogeneity of environmental matrices.

Cardiovascular risk factors begin in childhood and track into adulthood, increasing the possibility of impaired cardiometabolic health. Adopting healthy dietary patterns can help curb childhood obesity, a worrisome epidemic problem at present. In the era of personalized nutrition, dietary recommendations should be adapted to different stages of life, including children (older than 3 years) and adolescents.
