Metasurfaces have shown great potential in versatile areas such as vortex-beam generators, metalenses, holograms and so on. However, chromatic error hinders metasurfaces, especially metalenses, from wider applications. In this paper, we demonstrate a novel design for a transmissive mid-infrared achromatic bifocal metalens with polarization sensitivity. The compensation phase is used to eliminate the chromatic aberration. Simulation results show that, over a continuous waveband from 3.9 to 4.6µm, the focal length only changes by 2.26% with an average focusing efficiency of about 18%. This work can push the practical application of mid-infrared metasurfaces.

Radiative cooling window has been designed to emit infrared radiation in the atmospheric transparency window and reflects near-infrared light while allowing visible light to pass through. However, improvements are still needed in the transmissivity of visible light, the reflectivity of near-infrared light, and emissivity of mid-infrared spectra. This paper proposes a color-preserving radiative cooling window consisting of a multilayer film as a transparent near-infrared reflector and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) as a thermal emitter.

However, achieving simultaneously high transparency, color-customizable, and thermal management of PRC anti ultraviolet (anti-UV) films remains a challenge. Herein, a simple strategy is proposed to utilize liquid crystalline polymer, with high mid-infrared emissive, forming customizable structural color film by molecular self-assembly and polymerization-induced pitch gradient, which guarantees the balance of transparency in visible spectrum and sunlight reflection, rendering anti-UV colored window for thermal management.

Wide-field mid-infrared (MIR) hyperspectral imaging offers a promising approach for studying heterogeneous chemical systems due to its ability to independently characterize the molecular properties of different regions of a sample. However, applications of wide-field MIR microscopy are limited to spatial resolutions no better than ∼1 μm. While methods exist to overcome the classical diffraction limit of ∼λ/2, chromatic aberration from transmissive imaging reduces the achievable resolution.
