2D materials have been interesting for applications into nanodevices due to their intriguing physical properties. In this work, four types of unique structures are designed that are composed of MXenes and C/N-Si layers (CNSi), where MXene is sandwiched by the CNSi layers with different thicknesses, for their practical applications into integrated devices. The systematic calculations on their elastic constants, phonon dispersions, and thermodynamic properties show that these structures are stable, depending on the composition of MXene. It is found: 1) different from MXene or N-functionalized MXene (M CN ), SiN /M X/SiN possess new electronic properties with free carriers only in the middle, leading to 2D free electron gas; 2) CNSi/MXene/CNSi shows an intrinsic Ohmic semiconductor-metal-semiconductor (S-M-S) contact, which is potential for applications into nanodevices; and 3) O/M C/SiN and N/M C/OSiN are also stable and show different electronic properties, which can be semiconductor or metal as a whole depending on the interface. A method is further proposed to fabricate the 2D structures based on the industrial availability. The findings may provide a novel strategy to design and fabricate the 2D structures for their application into nanodevices and integrated circuits.

Context: "Nanostructure of graphene-reinforced with polymethyl methacrylate" (PMMA-G), and vice versa, is investigated using its molecular structure, in the present work. The PMMA-G nanostructure was constructed by bonding PMMA with graphene nanosheet in a sense to get three different configurations. Each configuration consisted of polymeric structures with three degrees of polymerization (such as monomers, dimers, and trimers polymers, respectively).

January 2025

Hubei Key Laboratory of Bioinorganic Chemistry & Materia Medica, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, 1037 Luoyu Road, Wuhan, Hubei 430074, China.

A Cu(I) photoredox-enabled reaction that selectively incorporates a difluoroalkyl group into -aryl glycine derivatives has been established. Using a bench-stable [PhPCFH]Br salt, the -CFH group could be installed either directly on the α-carbon of the glycine backbone or in a three-component fashion using an alkene as a bridge. A series of glycine derivatives have been evaluated, providing access to diverse unnatural amino esters and dipeptides with a -CHF unit.

The glassy state of inorganic-organic hybrid metal halides combines their excellent optoelectronic properties with the outstanding processability of glass, showcasing unique application potential in solar devices, display technologies, and plastic electronics. Herein, by tailoring the organic cation from -phenylpiperazine to dimethylamine gradually, four types of zero-dimensional antimony halides are obtained with various optical and thermal properties. The guest water molecules in crystal (-phenylpiperazine)SbCl·Cl·5HO lead to the largest distortion of the Sb-halogen unit, resulting in the red emission different from the yellow emission of other compounds.

The development of efficient sliding ferroelectric (FE) materials is crucial for advancing next-generation low-power nanodevices. Currently, most efforts focus on homobilayer two-dimensional materials, except for the experimentally reported heterobilayer sliding FE, MoS/WS. Here, we first screened 870 transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) bilayer heterostructures derived from experimentally characterized monolayer TMDs and systematically investigated their sliding ferroelectric behavior across various stacking configurations using high-throughput calculations.

Cancer immunotherapy has revolutionized cancer treatment due to its precise, target-specific approach compared to conventional therapies. However, treating solid tumors remains challenging as these tumors are inherently immunosuppressive, and their tumor microenvironment (TME) often limits therapeutic efficacy. Interestingly, certain bacterial species offer a promising alternative by exhibiting an innate ability to target and proliferate within tumor environments.
