Premature accumulation of senescent cells results in tissue destruction, and it is one of the potential primary mechanisms underlying the accelerated progression of diabetes and periodontitis. However, whether this characterized phenomenon could account for periodontal pathogenesis under hyperglycemic conditions remains unclear. In this study, we assessed the senescent phenotypic changes in experimental periodontitis under hyperglycemic conditions.

Aims: Diabetic chorea refers to sudden involuntary movements developing in people with diabetes mellitus and is known to occur mainly in those with severe hyperglycemia. We conducted a questionnaire survey of case-reporting facilities in Japan to elucidate their clinical characteristics.
Methods: We searched the PubMed and Ichushi databases for case reports published from January 1, 2012, to December 31, 2017, using "diabetes" and "chorea" as keywords, and sent a questionnaire to the reporting institutions.

Chronic hyperglycemia results in morphological and functional alterations of the kidney and microvascular damage, leading to diabetic nephropathy (DN). Since DN progresses to irreversible renal damage, it is important to elucidate a pharmacological strategy aimed for treating DN in the early stage. Here, we used the type 2 diabetic rat model to induce DN and show a nephroprotective effect following the stimulation of PPAR-α, which stabilized renal tight junction components claudin-2, claudin-5, and claudin-16.

Objective: Adreno CorticoTropic Hormone (ACTH)-independent Cushing's syndrome (CS) in children is very rare but potentially fatal. In bilateral nodular hyperplasia, synchronous bilateral adrenalectomy (SBA) represents the definitive treatment to correct hypercortisolism. We aim to report the multidisciplinary management of this rare condition.

Background: Managing type 1 diabetes in school is a real challenge for teachers, parents, and students themselves. Involving school educators in providing care and support is becoming more of a necessity than a luxury to facilitate access to healthcare services in schools for children with type 1 diabetes.
Objectives: Our work aimed to assess the background knowledge of teachers on type 1 diabetes and evaluate the impact of an educational intervention in improving this knowledge.
