Simultaneous biological nutrient removal (SBNR) using an anaerobic-anoxic-oxic phase is the key feature of advanced wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Removing ammonia, total nitrogen, and phosphorus concurrently with organic matter and suspended solids from wastewater is essential to meeting stringent effluent discharge standards via SBNR in WWTPs. More insight into the mechanisms of SBNR, i.

The Plio-Pleistocene turnover event in the western Atlantic following the closure of the Central American Seaway involved high rates of extinction for both gastropod and bivalve molluscs. This extinction was associated with declining nutrient conditions and has been presumed to be associated with a decrease in molluscan body size. Previous work which has been concordant with this expectation, however, has either focused on bivalves or not considered the effects of the recovery post extinction.

Wind energy becomes one of the promised solutions as alternatives of using fossil power energy in the upcoming decades. As pressure fluctuation and flow deficit in the near wake play a crucial role in predicting the turbine performance, the novelty in the current study focuses on a three dimensional (3 D) transient numerical simulation to investigate near wake characteristics of NREL phase IV wind turbine. Pressure fluctuation spectrum and wake deficit at four sections downstream the turbine are the main parameters studied as well as the flow streams and iso-surface characteristics.

This review examines Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology, which generates electricity using organic fluids at low temperature ranges. To enhance the efficiency of basic ORC systems, they are often adapted into Regenerative Organic Rankine Cycle (R-ORC) systems. The review highlights the dimensions of economic, energy, and exergy efficiency, which are critical for practical application.
