A Integrated Molecule Based on Ferritin Nanoplatforms for Inducing Tumor Ferroptosis with the Synergistic Photo/Chemodynamic Treatment.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

January 2025

Department of Laboratory Medicine, Dongguan Institute of Clinical Cancer Research, The Tenth Affiliated Hospital (Dongguan People's Hospital), Southern Medical University, Dongguan, Guangdong 523058, China.

Ferroptosis combined with photodynamic therapy (PDT) has emerged as a powerful approach to induce cancer cell death by producing and accumulating lethal reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the tumor microenvironment (TME). Despite its efficacy and safety, challenges persist in delivering multiple drugs to the tumor site for enhanced antitumor efficacy and improved tissue targeting. Hence, we designed a method of inducing ferroptosis through laser-mediated and human homologation-specific efficient activation, which is also a ferroptosis therapy with higher safety through ROS-mediated.

Looped Penrose Drainages of Acute Hand Infections in Vulnerable Populations.

January 2025

Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia; Division of Plastic, Reconstructive and Oral Surgery, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA. Electronic address:

Purpose: Acute hand infections (AHIs) remain a challenge for hand surgeons and represent a condition for which clinical outcomes are considerably affected by social barriers. We previously described the looped Penrose drainage technique, where a drain is sutured to itself in a loop and the outflow tract of egress is maintained, thus obviating the need for large incisions, wound closure, or repeat packing, thereby reducing the follow-up burden. In the face of escalating numbers of socioeconomically vulnerable patients, especially in urban settings, we aimed to characterize the clinical features and outcomes of this technique in an urban population of patients with AHI.

Voice Quality as Digital Biomarker in Bipolar Disorder: A Systematic Review.

J Voice

January 2025

Department of Surgery, UMONS Research Institute for Health Sciences and Technology, University of Mons (UMons), Mons, Belgium; Division of Laryngology and Bronchoesophagology, Department of Otolaryngology Head Neck Surgery, EpiCURA Hospital, Baudour, Belgium; Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Foch Hospital, School of Medicine, UFR Simone Veil, Université Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (Paris Saclay University), Paris, France; Department of Otolaryngology, Elsan Hospital, Paris, France. Electronic address:

Background: Voice analysis has emerged as a potential biomarker for mood state detection and monitoring in bipolar disorder (BD). The systematic review aimed to summarize the evidence for voice analysis applications in BD, examining (1) the predictive validity of voice quality outcomes for mood state detection, and (2) the correlation between voice parameters and clinical symptom scales.

Methods: A PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library search was carried out by two investigators for publications investigating voice quality in BD according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statements.

A neurocomputational account of multi-line electronic gambling machines.

Trends Cogn Sci

January 2025

Department of Psychology, Biological Psychology, University of Cologne, Cologne, Germany. Electronic address:

Multi-line electronic gambling machines (EGMs) are strongly associated with problem gambling. Dopamine (DA) plays a central role in substance-use disorders, which share clinical and behavioral features with disordered gambling. The structural design features of multi-line EGMs likely lead to the elicitation of various dopaminergic effects within their nested anticipation-outcome structure.
