Flexible zinc-air batteries (FZABs) present a promising solution for the next generation of power sources in wearable electronics, owing to their high energy density, cost-effectiveness, and safety. However, solid-state electrolytes for FZABs continue to face challenges related to rapid water loss and low ionic conductivity. In this study, a hydrophilic and stable tetramethylguanidine-modified graphene oxide as an additive, which is incorporated into sodium polyacrylate to develop a high-performance gel polymer electrolyte (GPE), is designed.

The poor mechanics and functionality of natural-polymer hydrogels from gellan gum (GG) prohibit their practical application, despite the intrinsic thermo-reversible gelation nature, structural and quality consistency, biocompatibility, biodegradability and sustainability of microbial fermentation-produced GG. Herein, a dual-reinforcing strategy, i.e.

The oscillatory Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction is often used for the study of rotating spiral waves that are responsible for life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia. In this work, we explore the influence of a concentration gradient on the dynamics of spiral waves in the BZ-reaction system. Using ion-exchange resin beads, we introduce a gradient of hydrogen ions in a thin layer of BZ gel hosting a spiral wave.

Trichloroethylene (TCE) is widely used in various industrial applications, leading to significant environmental and public health concerns due to its toxicity and persistence. Current nonthermal liquid-phase TCE treatment methods, including electrochemical processes, typically produce liquid byproducts that require additional separation steps, limiting their efficiency. To overcome these challenges, this study introduces an innovative electrochemical approach for the direct conversion of TCE gas into less harmful gaseous products, utilizing a Cu/Ni alloy 3D foam electrode integrated with a poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)-sodium polyphosphate (SPP) gel membrane system.

Recently, driven by a growing focus on environmental sustainability and cost-effectiveness, researchers have shown a keen interest in creating useful materials from bio-wastes, particularly for their potential applications in the biomedical field. Current research has been conducted on the impact of date seed powder (DSP) on hydroxyapatite (HA) formation, specifically in relation to the promotion of bone health and regeneration. HA is an essential component of bone tissue and plays a crucial role in maintaining bone strength and structure.
