Two formaldehyde detection methods are proposed by applying composite film quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensors. QCM sensor coated with PAAm/MWCNTs and PVAm/MWCNTs shows excellent characteristics of lower limit and high sensitivity. The lower limit of PVAm/MWCNTs is 0.5 ppm, and its detection sensitivity is 0.74 ppm/Hz. Upon working at different concentrations of formaldehyde and fabricating in different proportions, the reuse performance, gas selectivity, and response at room temperature show contrasting results. The main advantages of the two sensors presented are fast reaction, low cost, and easy manufacture. Compared to other formaldehyde sensors based on QCM, the PAAm/MWCNT- and PVAm/MWCNT-coated QCM sensors are able to concurrently show excellent selectivity, reuse performance, and high sensitivity, which is of great significance to detect the environmental quality.

Structural features of dioxane lignin: A comparative study with milled wood and formaldehyde-stabilized lignins.

Dioxane lignin (DL) is isolated from plant material under mild acidolysis conditions and is widely used in many studies as a representative sample of protolignin, an alternative to milled wood lignin (MWL). However, the structural changes caused by hydrolytic degradation reactions during DL extraction are still poorly understood. In this work, an integrated approach based on 2D NMR and high-resolution mass spectrometry was used to establish the features of the lignin structure on the example of pine lignin isolated using dioxane under various conditions: MWL, DL and "formaldehyde stabilized" lignin (LSF).

Nanocrystalline TiO is a perspective semiconductor gas-sensing material due to its long-term stability of performance, but it is limited in application because of high electrical resistance. In this paper, a gas-sensing nanocomposite material with p-p heterojunction is introduced based on p-conducting Cr-doped TiO in combination with p-conducting CrO. Materials were synthesized via a single-step flame spray pyrolysis (FSP) technique and comprehensively studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface area analysis, transition electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), and Raman spectroscopy.

A novel fluorescence sensing nanoplatform (CDs/AuNCs@ZIF-8) encapsulating carbon dots (CDs) and gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) within a zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) was developed for ratiometric detection of formaldehyde (FA) in the medium of hydroxylamine hydrochloride (NHOH·HCl). The nanoplatform exhibited pink fluorescence due to the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) effect of AuNCs and the internal filtration effect (IFE) between AuNCs and CDs. Upon reaction between NHOH·HCl and FA, a Schiff base formed via aldehyde-diamine condensation, releasing hydrochloric acid.

In recent years, significant advancements have been achieved in the development of multiplex imaging methodologies for immunophenotyping, enabling a comprehensive characterization of the complexity of tumor microenvironments. Imaging mass cytometry combines the detection of over 40 cellular targets with spatial information, enabling the identification of not only which cells are present in a tissue but also their localization relative to each other. Here, we present an easy-to-implement imaging mass cytometry workflow that ranges from antibody selection and testing to running a full panel.

Crafting Hollow Spheres via Bulk Ice Melting with ppb-Level Gas Sensing Performance.

Ice melting, a common yet complex phenomenon, remains incompletely understood. While theoretical studies suggest that preexisting defects in ice generate "off-lattice" water molecules, triggering bulk ice melting, direct experimental evidence of their form has been lacking as the transparent and transient nature of ice poses significant challenges for observation with current techniques. Here, we introduce an ice-melting-induced lyophilization (IMIL) technique that employs graphene-based nanoprobes to replicate and track liquid evolution within melting bulk ice.
