Interactions between species pose considerable challenges for forecasting the response of ecological communities to global changes. Coexistence theory could address this challenge by defining the conditions species can or cannot persist alongside competitors. However, although coexistence theory is increasingly deployed for projections, these frameworks have rarely been subjected to critical multigenerational validation tests.

Background: Although psychological interventions can be effective for the treatment of major depressive disorder, some patients' symptoms persist or rapidly recur after therapy. This study aimed to synthesize research findings on predictors and moderators of treatment response for persisting forms of depression, such as chronic, recurrent, and treatment-resistant depression.

Methods: A systematic review of studies investigating predictors and moderators of response to outpatient psychological treatment for adults with persisting forms of depression was conducted by searching Web of Science, Scopus, and PsycInfo.

Porphyria is a rare and often underdiagnosed metabolic disorder that leads to abdominal pain, pelvic pain, changes in neurological states, and digestive issues due to a buildup of porphyrins in the body. Diagnosis can be especially difficult in young women, where symptoms of porphyria often overlap with gynecological conditions. We present a case of a 37-year-old female patient who was experiencing persistent lower abdominal and pelvic pain, brain fog and confusion, and a rash after long sun exposure.

Socioeconomic disadvantage has been shown to be associated with elevated risks of care dependency, but how risks are modified by changes in socioeconomic position remains unclear. From a life course perspective, we investigated the association between socioeconomic mobility across the lifespan and care dependency in later life.

Background: Despite South Africa's well-established Civil Registration and Vital Statistics system (CRVS) and good completeness of death registration, challenges persist in terms of the quality of cause of death information and the delayed availability of mortality statistics. The introduction of an electronic medical certification of cause of death (eMCCD) system may offer opportunities to improve both the quality and timeliness of this information.

Methods: This study used an exploratory mixed methods design to investigate perceptions surrounding an electronic solution for registering deaths in South Africa.
