For [C(O)NH](N)P(O)-based structures, the magnitude of the differences in the N-H...O, H...O=P and H...O=C angles has been evaluated when the N-H bond lengths, determined by X-ray diffraction, were compared to the neutron normalized values and the maximum percentage difference was obtained, i.e. about 3% for the angle even if the N-H bond lengths have a difference of about 30% (0.7 Å for the X-ray and 1.03 Å for the neutron-normalized value). The symmetries of the crystals are discussed with respect to the symmetry of the molecules, as well as to the symmetry of hydrogen-bonded motifs, and the role of the most directional hydrogen bond in raising the probability of obtaining centrosymmetric crystal structures is investigated. The work was performed by considering nine new X-ray crystal structures and 204 analogous structures retrieved from the Cambridge Structural Database.

The protonolysis and redox reactivity of a Ce(IV) carbonate complex supported by the Kläui tripodal ligand [(η-CH)Co{P(O)(OEt)}] (L) have been studied. Whereas treatment of [Ce(L)(CO)] () with RCOH afforded [Ce(L)(RCO)] ( = Me (), Ph (), 2-NOCH ()), the reaction of with PhCHCOH resulted in formation of a mixture of Ce(IV) () and Ce(III) () carboxylate species. In benzene in the dark, was slowly converted into via Ce(IV)-O(carboxylate) homolysis.

Anthropogenic activities have accelerated lead (Pb) accumulation across different trophic levels in the ecosystem. This study focused on the physiological mechanisms of an invasive plant, in a controlled hydroponic setting to understand its response to Pb stress. was exposed to 680 µM of lead acetate for 21 days, showing high tolerance (83%) with minimal growth inhibition.

Peptide conjugates furnished with a 2,5-diaryltetrazolecarbonyl tag at the C-terminal lysine, which we call peptide--K, were found to undergo efficient cross-linking of Asp, Glu, Asn, and Gln residues to transient nitrile-imine intermediates produced by photodissociation and collision-induced dissociation (CID) of the tetrazole ring in gas-phase ions. UV photodissociation (UVPD) at 213 nm achieved cross-linking conversion yields of 37 and 61% for DAAAK--K and EAAAK--K, respectively. The yields for NAAAK--K and QAAAK--K were 29 and 57%, respectively.

To enhance the adsorption efficiency of activated carbon for heavy metals, herein we synthesized a novel composite adsorbent by loading of nickel/aluminum layered double hydroxides (Ni/Al-LDH) onto a chemically modified Egyptian rice husk-derived activated carbon. The characterization techniques used for determining the chemical and surface structure of the prepared composite were including FTIR, XRD, SEM, and BET which confirmed the successful loading of LDH onto the prepared activated carbon surface. The modified activated carbon established significantly upgraded performance in eliminating lead ions from wastewater.
