A Bayesian nonparametric approach for estimation of a Dirichlet process (DP) mixture of generalized inverted Dirichlet distributions [i.e., an infinite generalized inverted Dirichlet mixture model (InGIDMM)] has been proposed. The generalized inverted Dirichlet distribution has been proven to be efficient in modeling the vectors that contain only positive elements. Under the classical variational inference (VI) framework, the key challenge in the Bayesian estimation of InGIDMM is that the expectation of the joint distribution of data and variables cannot be explicitly calculated. Therefore, numerical methods are usually applied to simulate the optimal posterior distributions. With the recently proposed extended VI (EVI) framework, we introduce lower bound approximations to the original variational objective function in the VI framework such that an analytically tractable solution can be derived. Hence, the problem in numerical simulation has been overcome. By applying the DP mixture technique, an InGIDMM can automatically determine the number of mixture components from the observed data. Moreover, the DP mixture model with an infinite number of mixture components also avoids the problems of underfitting and overfitting. The performance of the proposed approach is demonstrated with both synthesized data and real-life data applications.

Adeno-associated virus (AAV) inverted terminal repeats (ITRs) induce p53-dependent apoptosis in human embryonic stem cells (hESCs). To interrogate this phenomenon, a synthetic ITR (SynITR), harboring substitutions in putative p53 binding sites was generated and evaluated for vector production and gene delivery. Replication of SynITR flanked transgenic genome was similar compared to wild type (wt) ITR, with a modest increase in vector titers.

Background: Post-activation performance enhancement (PAPE) has demonstrated efficacy in acutely improving athletic performance. However, its distinction from general warm-up (GW) effects remains ambiguous, and experimental designs adopted in most PAPE studies exhibit important limitations.
Objectives: The aims of this work are to (i) examine the effects of research methodology on PAPE outcomes, (ii) explore PAPE outcomes in relation to comparison methods, performance measures, GW comprehensiveness, recovery duration, participants' characteristics, conditioning activity (CA) parameters, and (iii) make recommendations for future PAPE experimental designs on the basis of the results of the meta-analysis.

With advancements in bipedal locomotion for humanoid robots, a critical challenge lies in generating gaits that are bounded to ensure stable operation in complex environments. Traditional Model Predictive Control (MPC) methods based on Linear Inverted Pendulum (LIP) or Cart-Table (C-T) methods are straightforward and linear but inadequate for robots with flexible joints and linkages. To overcome this limitation, we propose a Flexible MPC (FMPC) framework that incorporates joint dynamics modeling and emphasizes bounded gait control to enable humanoid robots to achieve stable motion in various conditions.
