Abdominal compartment syndrome secondary to chronic constipation in MECP2 duplication syndrome.

Abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) is an infrequently encountered life-threatening disorder characterised by elevated abdominal pressure with evidence of new organ dysfunction. It is rarely reported in paediatrics. We describe an extremely unusual presentation of a 13-year-old boy with long-standing constipation who developed ACS complicated by refractory septic shock and multiorgan failure. He was treated with emergent decompressive laparotomy and supportive critical care. This case highlights the need for early diagnosis and timely management of ACS to improve its outcome.

Objective The objective of this study was to develop a novel vaginal orthosis (NVO) device prototype through an iterative design process based on investigator and user feedback.

Study Design: The NVO was designed based on pelvic floor biomechanical principles to mitigate unopposed intra-abdominal pressure of the anterior vagina by absorbing and redirecting intra-abdominal forces to the levator ani and tailored to accommodate postoperative vaginal caliber and axis.

Phlegmonous gastritis is a rare, suppurative bacterial infection of the gastric wall and one of the rarest complications after upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. The pathogenesis is not fully clear, but multiple risk factors have been described in literature as mucosal injury and achlorhydria. We report a case of a 76-year-old male with vomiting and epigastric pain, two days after an upper endoscopy, who presented in septic shock.

Teleost B cells producing neutralizing antibodies contribute to protection against salmonid alphavirus (SAV) infection, the etiological agent of pancreas disease, thereby reducing mortality and disease severity. Our previous studies show differences in B cell responses between the systemic immune tissues (head kidney (HK) and spleen) and the peritoneal cavity (PerC) after intraperitoneal SAV3 infection in Atlantic salmon () where the response in PerC dominates at the late time points. By employing the same infection model, we aimed to further characterize these B cells.
