Background/objectives: Nutrient-poor diet quality is a major driver of the global burden of metabolic syndrome (MetS). The US ranks among the lowest in diet quality and has the highest rate of immigration, which may present unique challenges for non-US-native populations who experience changes in access to health-promoting resources. This study examined associations among MetS, nativity status, diet quality, and interaction effects of race-ethnicity among Hispanic, Asian, Black, and White US-native and non-US-native adults.

The retreat of Arctic sea ice has opened new maritime routes, offering faster shipping opportunities; however, these routes present significant navigational challenges due to the harsh ice conditions. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a deep learning-based Arctic ice risk management architecture with multiple modules, including ice classification, risk assessment, ice floe tracking, and ice load calculations. A comprehensive dataset of 15,000 ice images was created using public sources and contributions from the Canadian Coast Guard, and it was used to support the development and evaluation of the system.

Perioperative cardiac arrest (POCA) remains a major challenge in surgical settings, with low survival after cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). This study aims to identify predictive factors for 24 h survival after CPR and cause of POCA. A retrospective, single-center study was conducted on patients aged ≥18 years who experienced POCA and received CPR in the operating room or within 2 h postoperatively at Chiang Mai University Hospital from 2010 to 2019.

Recurrent tumors that are resistant to conventional chemotherapy are a major challenge of ovarian cancer treatment. A better understanding of the underlying molecular mechanisms of chemoresistance is critical for developing more effective targeted therapies for ovarian cancer. In this study, we analyzed the transcriptomic profiles of thirteen pairs of matching primary and recurrent ovarian cancers to identify genes that were upregulated in the recurrent tumors.
