A family of cyclic phosphine-disiloxane featuring peri-substituted naphthyl(Nap)/acenaphthyl(Ace) scaffolds has been prepared and fully characterized including X-ray structure, which enables a detailed structural analysis. This straightforward synthesis takes advantage of both ortho- and peri-substitution of Nap/Ace-substituted phosphine oxides. The synthetic method allows diversifying the polycyclic aromatic platform (Nap and Ace) as well as the Si substituents (Me and Ph). Despite a strong steric congestion, the P-atom remains reactive toward oxidation or coordination. In particular, Au(I) complex could be prepared. All the compounds display absorption/luminescence in the UV-Vis range. Surprisingly, the P-trivalent derivatives display unexpected luminescence in the green in solid-state.

In this study, the readily available and inexpensive Sc(OTf) was utilized to activate ortho-benzoyl diazo compounds to in situ generate highly reactive cyclic 1,3-dipoles, which underwent a regioselective [4 + 3] cycloaddition with dioxopyrrolidines, yielding the [4.2.1]-oxabridged scaffolds bearing multiple contiguous quaternary carbon centers with high diastereoselectivities.

Murine Xenograft Models as Preclinical Tools in Endometrial Cancer Research.

Cancers (Basel)

November 2024

GROW-Research Institute for Oncology & Reproduction, Maastricht University, 6229 ER Maastricht, The Netherlands.

Murine xenograft models are valuable and increasingly used preclinical tools in cancer research to understand disease pathogenesis and guide treatment options. The aim of this narrative review is to summarize the studies that employed mouse xenograft models, using cell lines, patient-derived tumors, or organoids, in endometrial cancer (EC) research, detailing their methodology and main findings. We identified 27 articles reporting on heterotopic EC xenografts, including subcutaneous, subrenal capsule, intraperitoneal, and retro-orbital models, and 18 articles using orthotopic xenografts.

Human antigen R (HuR) is an RNA binding protein (RBP) belonging to the ELAV (Embryonic Lethal Abnormal Vision) family, which stabilizes mRNAs and regulates the expression of multiple genes. Its altered expression or localization is related to pathological features such as cancer or inflammation. Dihydrotanshinone I (DHTS I) is a naturally occurring, tetracyclic ortho-quinone inhibitor of the HuR-mRNA interaction.

We report, for the first time, a visible-light-promoted Markovnikov hydroalkoxylation of α-trifluoromethyl alkenes with 1,2-diketones. This transformation proceeded smoothly in the presence of a tertiary amine (EtN), providing a series of enol ethers containing the trifluoromethylated tetrasubstituted center in moderate to excellent yields. In this protocol, hydrogen atom transfer between this amine and 1,2-diketone substrate affords a ketyl radical and an α-aminoalkyl radical, which engages in the formation of a radical anion of the α-CF alkene via a single electron transfer.

Background: This retrospective observational study compared outcomes of arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery using double row anchor repair (DRR) versus transosseous anchorless repair (TAR) in patients with small to large full-thickness rotator cuff tears.

Methods: A total of 42 patients underwent DRR (n=20) or TAR (n=22) between January 2022 and May 2023. Patients were matched based on age, sex, body mass index, and tear severity.
