The combination of in situ pair distribution function (PDF) analysis and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) enables analysis of the formation mechanism of metal oxido nanoclusters and cluster-solvent interactions as they take place. Herein, we demonstrate the method for the formation of clusters with a [Bi O ] core. Upon dissolution of crystalline [Bi O (OH) (NO ) ]⋅3 H O in DMSO, an intermediate rapidly forms, which slowly grows to stable [Bi O ] clusters. To identify the intermediate, we developed an automated modeling method, where smaller [Bi O ] structures based on the [Bi O ] framework are tested against the data. [Bi O ] was identified as the main intermediate species, illustrating how combined PDF and SAXS analysis is a powerful tool to gain insight into nucleation on an atomic scale. PDF also provides information on the interaction between nanoclusters and solvent, which is shown to depend on the nature of the ligands on the cluster surface.

Three stable oxidovanadium(IV) [VOL] complexes (1-3) were synthesized through the incorporation of unsymmetrical salen ligands (HL). All the ligands are synthesized, and their vanadium compounds were thoroughly characterized by CHNS analysis, various spectroscopy methods (IR, UV-Vis, NMR spectroscopy), and HR-ESI-MS. The structures of 1-3 were validated through the single-crystal X-ray analysis.

This study evaluated the protective effects of silica nanoparticles (SiNPs) derived from melon seed husk ash against the neurotoxic effects of common environmental pollutants, aluminum (Al), nickel (Ni), and their combination in Wistar rats. Ninety-one male Sprague Dawley rats (220-250 g; 6-8 weeks old) were divided into 13 experimental groups. Key findings revealed that exposure to nickel, aluminum, or their combination significantly impaired spatial learning and memory, as evidenced by prolonged latency periods in treated rats.

Glutarimidedioxime is a cyclic amidoxime moiety formed during the synthesis of amidoxime-functionalized fibers and apparently facilitates the extraction of uranium from seawater. Herein, we comprehensively explore differences between molybdenum and vanadium coordinated by glutarimidedioxime. The high adsorption of vanadium is explained by the formation of rare nonoxido vanadium(V) complexes, where each bare V is coordinated with two tridentate glutarimidedioxime ligands.

Two new dioxidovanadium(V) compounds with the general formula [VO(L)] (L = hydrazone ligand) were synthesized using three different methods (acidic, neutral, and basic media) with either VOSO. 5HO, [VO(acac)], or NHVO as the starting material and hydrazone ligands. In both cases, five coordinated V ions adopted distorted square pyramidal geometry through the coordination of two oxido ligands and one hydrazone ligand.
