Article Synopsis
  • Patients with acute myocardial infarction and cardiogenic shock supported by veno-arterial ECMO show high mortality rates, and this study examines the potential survival benefits of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
  • Data from 1623 patients was analyzed, revealing that those who underwent PCI had lower in-hospital mortality rates compared to those who did not, along with better outcomes in terms of ECMO weaning success.
  • The study concludes that PCI may lower mortality and improve recovery among patients receiving ECMO for AMICS, without increasing the risk of complications related to ECMO.

Objective: To study the reliability and effectiveness of the percutaneous sperm retrieval technique.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the records of 123 consecutive patients with obstructive azoospermia who underwent percutaneous sperm retrieval and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) using Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration (PESA) with or without a rescue Testicular Sperm Aspiration (TESA). We compared patients who had the first sperm retrieval ever and patients who had more than one sperm retrieval performed.

Background: Obstructive complications in the Fontan circulation pose significant risks to affected patients. Traditional management strategies may be insufficient, necessitating innovative treatment approaches. This case report discusses the use of the FlowTriever Retrieval System for percutaneous aspiration thrombectomy in a patient with a history of Fontan procedure who developed conduit obstruction due to thrombus formation.

Background: Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a congenital heart defect that requires closure to prevent complications like heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. Catheter-based closure using devices such as the Amplatzer duct occluder is the preferred method due to its minimally invasive nature. However, device embolization is a rare but recognized complication, particularly in small children or high-flow PDAs.
