AI Article Synopsis

  • The study examined the protective effects of fruit extract against renal damage caused by isoprenaline (ISO) in rats, highlighting increased oxidative stress markers and decreased antioxidant enzyme function due to ISO.
  • Fruit extract, known for its high antioxidant content, successfully reduced levels of harmful oxidative stress markers like MDA, NO, and APOP in the kidneys of rats treated with ISO.
  • Both fruit extract and atenolol were found to significantly reduce kidney inflammation and tissue damage, potentially preventing kidney dysfunction by modulating inflammation and oxidative stress-related gene expressions.

Article Abstract

This study evaluated the effect of fruit extract against isoprenaline (ISO) induced renal damage in rats. This investigation showed that ISO administration in rats increased the level oxidative stress biomarkers such as malondialdehyde (MDA), nitric oxide (NO), advanced protein oxidation product (APOP) in kidneys followed by a decrease in antioxidant enzymes functions. fruit extract, which is rich in strong antioxidants, also reduced the MDA, NO and APOP level in kidney of ISO administered rats. Inflammation and necrosis was also visible in kidney section of ISO administered rats which was significantly prevented by atenolol and fruit extract. Moreover, atenolol and fruit extract also modulated the genes expressions related to inflammation and oxidative stress in kidneys. The beneficial effects could be attributed to the presence of a number of phenolic antioxidants. This study suggests that fruit extract may prevent kidney dysfunction in ISO administered rats, probably by preventing oxidative stress and inflammation.

<b>Background and Objective:</b> Prolonged utilization of chemical fertilizers can harm the soil and disturb the equilibrium of nutrients, resulting in a decline in cherry tomato yield. To enhance the growth of cherry tomato plants, it is necessary to add organic chemicals. The research aimed to determine the best elicitor biosaka concentration to apply to evoke the plant growth of cherry tomatoes (<i>Solanum lycopersicum</i> L.

Strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa) is a horticultural crop known for its sensitivity to mechanical damage and susceptibility to postharvest decay. In recent years, various strategies have been implemented to enhance both the yield and quality of strawberries, among which the application of nitric oxide-producing compounds has garnered special attention. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of varying concentrations of sodium nitroprusside (SNP), specifically 0, 200, 400, and 600 μM, on strawberries (cv.

The walnut tree as a source of progesterone for reproductive control in goats.

Animal

December 2024

Physiologie de la Reproduction et des Comportements, CNRS, INRAE, Université de Tours, 37380 Nouzilly, France.

Intravaginal sponges impregnated with the progesterone (P4) analogue fluorogestone acetate (FGA) induce synchronous oestrous behaviour and normal ovulatory cycle in goats. To explore alternatives using natural P4 from plants, we developed a method of ethanolic extraction and a specific enzyme immunoassay (EIA) to measure P4 in the different parts of the walnut tree Juglans regia. We found a very high concentration of P4, specifically in the leaves of the three most common French varieties (∼100 mg/kg of DM) but not in flowers, fruits, septa, husk, oil or cake.

(1) Background: Kiwifruit is a globally valued fruit. Its industrial processing produces a substantial amount of waste, particularly peels, which present an appealing potential source of bioactive compounds. This study focuses on optimizing the extraction of phenolics from kiwi peels using a water bath (WB) and infrared irradiation (IR) and assessing their biological activities.
