Background: Knowing the prevalence and predictors of neuropathic pain and its impacts on the quality of life (QoL) using measurement tools is important for good diabetes management. In Turkish society, neuropathic pain, its predictors and its impact on the quality of life of diabetics are not considered enough.
Objectives: This study examined the prevalence and predictors of neuropathic pain and its impacts on the quality of life in diabetics in Rize Province, Turkey.
Design: This study was designed as a cross-sectional, correlational study.
Setting: Data collected through face-to-face interviews. The sample size was determined using the formula [n= N tpq / d (N-1) + tpq].
Participant: The sample of the study consisted of 122 people with diabetes who visited the diabetes outpatient clinic of the hospital.
Methods: A Personal Information Form, Douleur Neuropathique en 4 questions (DN4), and Leeds Assessment of Neuropathic Symptoms and Signs (LANSS) were used to collect data. Pain intensity was measured using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) RESULTS: The prevalence of the diagnosed painful diabetic polyneuropathy (PDPN) was found to be 22.9%. On the other hand, the prevalence of the undiagnosed PDPN was found to be 44.3% according to DN4 and 27.9% according to LANSS. The VAS pain score was determined as 1.99±1.20 (range: 1-5). In the people with PDPN, nephropathy was seen 4.514 times more frequently according to DN4 and 7.217 times more frequently according to LANSS. Painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy had negative effects on all dimensions of QoL except for social function and mental health (p <0.05).
Conclusions: It is important for nurses to determine the prevalence and predictive factors of PDPN in their region and to evaluate the effect of pain on the quality of life of diabetics. Nurses should attempt to increase the quality of life of people with diabetes by reducing the predictors affecting pain.

In clinical optical molecular imaging, the need for real-time high frame rates and low excitation doses to ensure patient safety inherently increases susceptibility to detection noise. Faced with the challenge of image degradation caused by severe noise, image denoising is essential for mitigating the trade-off between acquisition cost and image quality. However, prevailing deep learning methods exhibit uncontrollable and suboptimal performance with limited interpretability, primarily due to neglecting underlying physical model and frequency information.

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is underused, logistically challenging for those who are justice-involved, and laced with ethical problems for those on death row. Herein we describe a case of a man without history of long-standing psychiatric illness who, after more than 15 years on death row, was hospitalized for altered mental status. After medical stabilization, the altered mental status persisted.

Vision loss affects more than 7 million Americans and impacts quality of life, independence, social functioning, and overall health. Common and dangerous conditions causing sudden vision loss include acute angle-closure glaucoma, retinal detachment, retinal artery occlusion, giant cell arteritis, and optic neuritis. Acute angle-closure glaucoma features ocular pain, headache, and nausea; treatment includes pilocarpine eye drops, oral or intravenous acetazolamide, and intravenous mannitol.

Background: Teaching severe pelvic trauma poses a significant challenge in orthopedic surgery education due to the necessity of both clinical reasoning and procedural operational skills for mastery. Traditional methods of instruction, including theoretical teaching and mannequin practice, face limitations due to the complexity, the unpredictability of treatment scenarios, the scarcity of typical cases, and the abstract nature of traditional teaching, all of which impede students' knowledge acquisition.
Objective: This study aims to introduce a novel experimental teaching methodology for severe pelvic trauma, integrating virtual reality (VR) technology as a potent adjunct to existing teaching practices.

Background: Tinnitus is a major health issue, but currently no tinnitus elimination treatments exist for chronic subjective tinnitus. Acoustic therapy, especially personalized acoustic therapy, plays an increasingly important role in tinnitus treatment. With the application of smartphones, personalized acoustic stimulation combined with smartphone apps will be more conducive to the individualized treatment and management of patients with tinnitus.
