Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated the occurrence of cranial cruciate ligament rupture (RCCL) in small breed dogs and the role of tibial plateau angle (TPA) as a predictor for recovery.
  • It was found that neutered dogs, especially those neutered early, had a higher prevalence of RCCL, and that dogs with lower pre-operative TPA (≤25°) experienced faster recovery and fewer complications compared to those with higher TPA (>25°).
  • The findings suggest that maintaining a post-operative TPA of less than 10° is crucial for achieving favorable clinical outcomes following surgery.
