Background: The objective of this study was to compare generative artificial intelligence-initiated care pathways, using ChatGPT, with expert-guided consensus-initiated care pathways from AskMayoExpert (AME) for symptom management of esophageal cancer patients after esophagectomy.

Methods: A formal protocol for development of 9 AME care pathways was followed for specific patient-identified domains after esophagectomy for esophageal cancer. Domain scores were measured and assessed through the Upper Digestive Disease tool.

Exosomes derived from human adipose mesenchymal stem cells act as a therapeutic target for oral submucous fibrosis.

J Stomatol Oral Maxillofac Surg

Centre of Molecular Medicine and Diagnostics (COMManD), Department of Biochemistry, Saveetha Dental College & Hospitals, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Saveetha University, Chennai - 600077, Tamil Nadu, India. Electronic address:

Oral submucosal fibrosis is a highly malignant oral condition that necessitates the use of sophisticated therapeutic procedures. OSF is a multifactorial precancerous condition induced by areca nut chewing, deficiencies in vitamins and trace minerals, immunological aspects, and hereditary factors. Adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells possess the capability for multidirectional activation and are extensively distributed throughout the body.

Cancer immunotherapy using engineered cytotoxic effector cells has demonstrated significant potential. The limited spatial complexity of existing models, however, poses a challenge to mechanistic studies attempting to approve existing approaches of effector cell-mediated cytotoxicity within a three-dimensional, solid tumor-like environment. To gain additional experimental control, we developed an approach for constructing three-dimensional (3D) culture models using smart polymers that form temperature responsive hydrogels.

Oxadiazole compounds are of great interest because they have a range of biological activities ranging from antioxidants to anticancer agents. Against this background, we wanted to demonstrate the antioxidant, enzyme inhibitory, and anticancer effects of 5(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-(N-phenylamino)-1,3,4-oxadiazole (Hppo). Antioxidant abilities were measured through free radical scavenging and reducing power tests.

Article Synopsis
  • Sciatic nerve injury (SNI) is a common form of peripheral nerve damage that triggers inflammation and hinders nerve recovery by activating macrophages into a harmful M1 state.
  • Ectodermal mesenchymal stem cells (EMSCs), sourced from nasal mucosa, can potentially help recover nerve function by modulating the inflammatory environment, specifically by enhancing the presence of beneficial M2 macrophages.
  • The study found that EMSCs transplantation not only improved nerve function recovery in a SNI model but also promoted an increase in M2 macrophage activity and anti-inflammatory cytokines through specific signaling pathways.
