Phthalates and bisphenols, ubiquitous compounds found in various everyday products, have garnered attention due to their potential health-disrupting effects. This study aimed to (1) investigate urinary phthalate metabolites and bisphenol A (BPA) levels in donors and recipients prior to allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and monitor changes in these compounds in pediatric recipients at different time points (Day-9, Day 0, Day+7, Day+28, Day+90), and (2) assess their association with engraftment success. Urine samples from pediatric recipients and donors were collected for analysis of phthalate metabolites and BPA in 34 donor-recipient pairs.

Background Aims: With novel therapies improving prognosis, the complications of multiple myeloma after multi-line treatment, particularly myelosuppression, have become a crucial determinant of long-term outcomes. Non-myeloablative allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is a feasible option, but the transplant-related mortality rate remains high. Our study presents a relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma patient with a 9-year disease history.

Autologous skin grafts are the gold standard for definitive wound coverage in burn care, but allograft skin grafts are essential for providing temporary coverage in cases of extensive burns. The Helsinki Skin Bank, established in 1995 at the Helsinki Burn Centre, is Finland's only licensed skin bank, serving a population of 5.5 million.

Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a severe disorder with poor clinical outcomes. Use of emapalumab, an IFN-γ inhibitor, enables primary HLH control in over 85 % of affected children. However, data on emapalumab use for Epstein-Barr virus-associated HLH (EBV-HLH) are limited.

In recent years, the progression of stem cell therapies has shown great promise in advancing the nascent field of regenerative medicine. Considering the non-regenerative nature of the mature central nervous system, the concept that "blank" cells could be reprogrammed and functionally integrated into host neural networks remained intriguing. Previous work has also demonstrated the ability of such cells to stimulate intrinsic growth programs in post-mitotic cells, such as neurons.
