O-GlcNAc is a common post-translational modification of nuclear, mitochondrial, and cytoplasmic proteins that regulates normal physiology and the cell stress response. Dysregulation of O-GlcNAc cycling is implicated in the etiology of type II diabetes, heart failure, hypertension, and Alzheimer's disease, as well as cardioprotection. These protocols cover simple and comprehensive techniques for detecting proteins modified by O-GlcNAc and studying the enzymes that add or remove O-GlcNAc. © 2021 The Authors. Agrobacterium-mediated gene transformation method is a vital molecular biology technique employed to develop transgenic plants. Plants are genetically engineered to develop disease-free varieties, knock out unsettling traits for crop improvement, or incorporate an antigenic protein to make the plant a green factory for edible vaccines. The method's robustness was validated through successful transformations, demonstrating its effectiveness as a standard approach for researchers working in plant biotechnology.

When Simple Orthopedic Cases Become Complex: Case Presentations From Gaza.

Cureus

December 2024

Department of Orthopedics, Jordanain Royal Medical Services, Amman, JOR.

Orthopedic injuries in Gaza, many of which would be straightforward to manage under normal circumstances, have become increasingly complex and challenging due to ongoing conflict, severe healthcare limitations, and delayed treatment. This review highlights cases of injuries that, if treated promptly, could have been managed with standard protocols but have evolved into complicated and difficult-to-treat conditions. Delayed care, lack of resources, and restricted rehabilitation significantly increase the complexity of treatment and lead to higher rates of complications, and impaired outcomes.

Objectives: Head and neck malignancies (HNMs) encompass a variety of cancers that affect the oral and para-oral tissues, the most common of which are squamous cell carcinomas. Radiotherapy is commonly used to treat these cancers, often involving radiation exposure to the salivary glands. This study aims to investigate the early impacts of radiotherapy on the internal microstructure of the salivary gland cells and identify which gland exhibits the highest level of radiosensitivity.

Comparing the Therapeutic Impact of Strain-Counterstrain and Exercise on Low Back Myofascial Pain Syndrome: A Randomized Trial.

J Multidiscip Healthc

January 2025

Program of Physical Therapy, Department of Medical Rehabilitation Sciences, College of Applied Medical Sciences, King Khalid University, Abha, 61421, Saudi Arabia.

Background: Background: Strain-Counterstrain (SCS) therapy is a manual therapeutic technique used to treat myofascial pain by addressing tender points through passive positioning. Despite anecdotal evidence, limited peer-reviewed research supports its efficacy in chronic low back pain (LBP). This study evaluates the effects of SCS combined with exercise on pain severity, lumbar range of motion (ROM), and functional disability in patients with chronic LBP.
