The vaginal environment with candidiasis has a pH of 3.8 to 4.5 and this has a negative effect on the activity of antifungals. Ibrexafungerp was evaluated against 187 isolates, including fluconazole-sensitive and -resistant Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Candida krusei, Candida parapsilosis, and Candida tropicalis with the media adjusted to pH 7.0 and pH 4.5. Ibrexafungerp MIC values were not adversely affected when tested at pH 4.5. Ibrexafungerp exhibited significant activity against all isolates at pH 4.5.

Objective: To compare the salivary profiles of smokers (e-cigarette smokers, e-cigarette and former conventional cigarette smokers, dual users, and conventional cigarette smokers) and non-smokers in adolescents, focusing on acidity level, flow rate, viscosity, as well as the quantity of Streptococcus mutans, Porphyromonas gingivalis, and Candida albicans.
Methods: This analytical observational study, with a cross-sectional design, involves collecting saliva samples from five groups through the draining method. Saliva viscosity was assessed visually, while saliva flow rate was monitored over a ten-minute period.

Artisanal cayote jam consumption is widespread in Latin-American countries. This jam is prepared from the pulp of Cucurbita ficifolia Bouché. Here, an artisanal cayote jam recipe and a reduced-calorie artisanal cayote jam recipe were defined through sensory analysis.

a major human fungal pathogen, can form biofilms on a variety of inert and biological surfaces. biofilms allow for immune evasion, are highly resistant to antifungal therapies, and represent a significant complication for a wide variety of immunocompromised patients in clinical settings. While transcriptional regulators and global transcriptional profiles of biofilm formation have been well-characterized, much less is known about translational regulation of this important virulence property.

Objectives: Candida glabrata is the second most common species responsible for invasive candidiasis, including candidaemia. Echinocandins are typically the first-line therapy for C. glabrata candidaemia, with the option to transition to oral fluconazole.

Background: The immature lungs of very preterm infants are exposed to supraphysiologic oxygen, contributing to bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), a chronic lung disease that is the most common morbidity of prematurity. While the microbiota significantly influences neonatal health, the relationship between the intestinal microbiome, particularly micro-eukaryotic members such as fungi and yeast, and lung injury severity in newborns remains unknown.
Results: Here, we show that the fungal microbiota modulates hyperoxia-induced lung injury severity in very low birth weight premature infants and preclinical pseudohumanized and altered fungal colonization mouse models.
