In the cat isolated small intestine perfused with a constant flow, i. a. serotonin (0.1--10.0 mu.min-1.kg-1) increased transcapillary fluid transfer against the background of decreasing capillary hydrostatic pressure and increasing capillary filtration coefficient. The reactions of arteries, veins and lymphatic ducts of the small intestine to serotonin were similar: they dilated at low and constricted at high-doses of the amine.

An experiment was conducted to assess the effects of the BCAA and their interactions on performance, carcass composition, lipid metabolism, liver health, and intestinal morphometry in broiler chickens. Male chickens ( = 1080) were randomly assigned into floor pens in a 3 × 3 factorial design with 3 dietary ratios of SID Leu:Lys (110, 150, and 190%), and 3 dietary ratios of SID Ile-Val:Lys (68-77, 78-87, and 88-97%). Performance parameters were assessed from 1 to 35 days of age.

Aims: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Bacillus subtilis supplementation on the health of weaned piglets and whether Bacillus subtilis supplementation can reduce the damage of piglets induced by ETEC K88.
Methods And Results: The experiment was designed with a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement, comprising the control (CON) group, Bacillus subtilis (PRO) group, Escherichia coli K88 (ETEC) group, and Bacillus subtilis + ETEC (PRO + ETEC) group. Regardless of the presence of ETEC, the addition of PRO increased the piglets' final body weight (FW), average daily gain (ADG), and daily feed intake (ADFI).

Although long-term high dietary sodium consumption often aggravates hypertension and bone loss, sodium in the intestinal lumen has been known to promote absorption of nutrients and other ions, e.g., glucose and calcium.

Background: Gastric cancer remains a major global health challenge, ranking fourth in cancer-related deaths. Total gastrectomy with lymphadenectomy is the standard treatment, with advancements in surgery shifting towards minimally invasive techniques to reduce surgical trauma and metabolic response. Esophagojejunal anastomotic leak is a frequent complication of gastrectomy, significantly increasing morbidity and mortality rates by up to 64%.
