Cognitive scientists and neuroscientists are increasingly deploying computational models to develop testable theories of psychological functions and make quantitative predictions about cognition, brain activity, and behavior. Computational models are used to explain target phenomena such as experimental effects, individual, and/or population differences. They do so by relating these phenomena to the underlying components of the model that map onto distinct cognitive mechanisms.

Cryptococcus neoformans/gattii and Histoplasma capsulatum var. capsulatum may present atypical histopathological features inducing diagnostic errors. We aimed to estimate the frequency of these atypical features on formalin-fixed tissue samples (FT) and to assess the relevance of an integrated histomolecular diagnosis using specific Histoplasma capsulatum PCR and panfungal PCR followed by Sanger sequencing and/or targeted-massive parallel sequencing (MPS).

Complement C4 is a key component in the activation of classical and lectin complement pathways, which are observed in both animal tumor models and cancer patients. While its role in autoimmune disorders has been extensively studied, the functions of complement C4 and its activation in cancer have received inadequate consideration. Recent studies have detected C4 activation in animal tumor models and cancer patients, with its fragment C4d found in cancer tissues and lymph nodes.

For two decades the ASCO CAP HER2 testing criteria have included 0 and 1+ scores, but this distinction was inconsequential. Now, based on the DESTINY Breast-04 Trial (DB-04) results, for patients with metastatic breast cancer it underpins eligibility for T-DXd treatment. Discerning 0 from 1+ IHC staining is challenging, as HER2 low is not a biologically distinct cancer subset, there are no reference standards or controls and second-tier tests do not apply.

Diverse functions of probiotic extracellular vesicles (EVs) have been extensively studied over the past decade, proposing their role in inter-kingdom communication. Studies have explored their therapeutic role in pathophysiological processes ranging from cancer, immunoregulation, and ulcerative colitis to stress-induced depression. These studies have highlighted the significant and novel potential of probiotic EVs for therapeutic applications, offering immense promise in addressing several unmet clinical needs.
