In this study, whole-cell biotransformation was conducted to produce nonanedioic acid from nonanoic acid by expressing the alkane hydroxylating system (AlkBGT) from Pseudomonas putida GPo1 in Escherichia coli. Following adaptive laboratory evolution, an efficient E. coli mutant strain, designated as MRE, was successfully obtained, demonstrating the fastest growth (27-fold higher) on nonanoic acid as the sole carbon source compared to the wild-type strain. Additionally, the MRE strain was engineered to block nonanoic acid degradation by deleting fadE. The resulting strain exhibited a 12.8-fold increase in nonanedioic acid production compared to the wild-type strain. Six mutations in acrR, P , dppA, P , e14, and yeaR were identified in the mutant MRE strain, which was characterized using genomic modifications and RNA-sequencing. The acquired mutations were found to be beneficial for rapid growth and nonanedioic acid production.

Sarcoidosis is a granulomatous disease affecting multiple organ systems and poses a diagnostic challenge due to its diverse clinical manifestations and absence of specific diagnostic tests. Currently, blood biomarkers such as ACE, sIL-2R, CD163, CCL18, serum amyloid A, and CRP are employed to aid in the diagnosis and monitoring of sarcoidosis. Metabolomics holds promise for identifying highly sensitive and specific biomarkers.

Low-voltage electrostatic field (LP) enhances the freezing quality of food by increasing water supercooling and improving ice crystal morphology. This study explored the effects of LP treatment on the storage quality of square bamboo shoots using physicochemical, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, and metabolomics methods. Results showed that with prolonged storage, the LP-treated group had lower activities of peroxidase, phenylalanine ammonia-lyase, and lower levels of malondialdehyde, cellulose, and lignin compared to the control group, while superoxide dismutase and catalase activities and shear force values were higher.

Polyphenols have potent antioxidant properties, but are easily degraded in the gastrointestinal tract, greatly limiting their application as dietary supplements. Therefore, the composition changes of lotus seedpod oligomeric procyanidins (LSOPC) in the gastrointestinal digestion, colonic fermentation and their absorption in Caco-2 cell monolayer were studied. The extracted LSOPC were identified using UPLC-Q-Exactive/MS, and a total of 47 compounds were identified.

: To improve the solubility and permeability of Sparfloxacin (SPX) and enhance its antimicrobial activity in vitro, two unreported pharmaceutical crystalline salts were synthesized and characterized in this paper. One is a hydrated crystal of Sparfloxacin with Pimelic acid (PIA), another is a hydrated crystal of Sparfloxacin with Azelaic acid (AZA), namely, SPX-PIA-HO (2CHFNO·CHO·2HO) and SPX-AZA-HO (4CHFNO·2CHO·5HO). : The structure and purity of two crystalline salts were analyzed using solid-state characterization methods such as single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, and infrared spectroscopy.
