The great challenge is to improve the high-competence electrochemical supercapacitor (ES) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalyst with earth-abundant transition metals rather than using limited noble metals. Herein, we developed a facile strategy to introduce two different phases such as α-MnO or γ-MnO on porous hexagonal bimetallic β-NiCo(OH)-layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanosheets for an enhanced bifunctionality and to ease out interfacial redox reaction kinetics. Due to the rational intend of LDH morphology and well-retained starlike γ-MnO nanostructures, the bifunctional LDHs exhibit commendable activities toward ESs and in the OER study. Importantly, the γ-MnO phase loaded at β-NiCo(OH) LDHs shows superior ESs or electrocatalytic OER performance in comparison with the α-MnO phase on LDHs. Besides, the assembled fabricated asymmetric supercapacitor (FASC) device possesses convincing energy (24.43 W h/kg) and power densities (5312 W/kg) and enabled us to glow a 1.4 V light-emitting diode for 45 s. Accordingly, three-/two-electrode systems or the solid-state FASC device has exhibited high efficiency in ESs. Also, the optimized γ-MnO phase on β-NiCo(OH) LDHs with the detailed mass ratio of Ni and Co has displayed the OER performance comparable to commercial RuO. The electrochemical studies and structural classifications offer in-depth analysis on the electrochemical behaviors, especially the stability in both ES and OER studies, signifying a promising aspirant in the alternative energy field.

Transition metal sulfides, despite their abundance of electrochemically active sites, often demonstrate inadequate rate performance and mechanical stability. The development of a multi-dimensional hierarchical architecture has proven to be an effective approach to address the limitations associated with sulfides. In the present study, MoNiCo-S nanorods featuring hierarchical micro-/nano-structures were successfully synthesized through a straightforward methodology that involved "in situ growth-etching-vulcanization".

Cobalt-nickel metal-organic framework/activated carbon (MOF/AC) composites with tunable flower-like architectures were synthesized via a straightforward hydrothermal method, utilizing activated carbon as a structural and functional modifier. This modification increased the surface area from 20.3 m/g to 164.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) due to abundant apertures, adjustable components, and multi-purpose structures have broad application prospects in supercapacitors. However, its low conductivity, poor stability, and difficulty growing evenly on the conductive substrate limit the electrochemical energy storage performance. Herein, with FeCoNi-OH nanosheets serving as the precursors, the trimetallic FeCoNi-MOF (FCNM) multilayer structure is successfully synthesized on activated carbon cloth (AC), and its optimal growth state (FCNM/AC-12 h) is achieved by regulating the reaction time.

Developing efficient, multifunctional electrodes for energy storage and conversion devices is crucial. Herein, lattice strains are reported in the β-phase polymorph of CoMoO within CoMoO@CoO heterostructure via phosphorus doping (P-CoMoO@CoO) and used as a high-performance trifunctional electrode for supercapacitors (SCs), hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in alkaline electrolytes. A tensile strain of +2.

2D materials feature large specific surface areas and abundant active sites, showing great potential in energy storage and conversion. However, the dense, stacked structure severely restricts its practical application. Inspired by the structure of bamboo in nature, hollow interior and porous exterior wall, hollow MXene aerogel fiber (HA-TiCT fiber) is proposed.
