The adrenaline autoinjector (AAi) is universally recommended as the first-line treatment for anaphylactic reactions occurring outside the medical setting. The quantification of its acquisition may help estimate the prevalence of patients at risk of anaphylaxis with an indication for AAi. Evaluation of the global and regional frequency of AAi purchases in Mainland Portugal between 2003-2017 and calculate the inherent costs in 2017. AAi acquisition distribution analysis along this period. The population was divided in two age groups according to the adrenaline dosage. A total of 10,993 AAi units of 0.15mg/0.3mL and 28,619 of 0.3mg/0.3mL were acquired in these 15 years, with an annual average of 733 and 1908 units, respectively. In cumulative values terms, Lisbon showed the highest number of AAI acquired and higher prevalence per region/100,000 inhabitants in both groups. In 2017, the annual cost for each age group was 64,202.71 € 187,447.70 € for patients and € 37,706.35 / 110,113.30 € for the National Health System. In the last 15 years, there was a progressive increase in AAi acquisition. We estimate a rate of anaphylaxis occurrence in Portugal according to AAi aquisition of 0.165%.

Aim: In case of systemic anaphylactic reactions after Hymenoptera stings, patients should be provided with an adrenaline autoinjector (AAI). We aimed to evaluate the education and handling competence of patients in a real-world setting.

Materials And Methods: Patients with Hymenoptera venom allergy presenting for the first time in our clinic with a previously prescribed emergency kit including an AAI were interviewed using a standardized questionnaire and were asked to demonstrate the AAI use with a dummy.

Purpose: This study investigated the influence of vowel quality on loudness perception and stress judgment in Mongolian, an agglutinative language with free word stress. We aimed to explore the effects of intrinsic vowel features, presentation order, and intensity conditions on loudness perception and stress assignment.

Method: Eight Mongolian short vowel phonemes (/ɐ/, /ə/, /i/, /ɪ/, /ɔ/, /o/, /ʊ/, and /u/) were recorded by a native Mongolian speaker of the Urad subdialect (the Chahar dialect group) in Inner Mongolia.

Aristolochic acid I (AAI), the most prominent component of aristolochic acids and found in nearly all aristolochic herbs, has been demonstrated significant nephrotoxicity. In this study, an acute nephrotoxicity model of AAI mice was established by a single dose injection of AAI. It was observed that there are differences of the sensitivity to AAI nephrotoxicity in female and male mice, with male mice exhibiting nephrotoxic effects even at lower doses.

Two Gram-stain-negative, curved-rod-shaped, non-motile and aerobic bacteria W6 and I13 were isolated from marine sediment samples collected from Meishan Island located in the East China Sea. Catalase and oxidase activities and hydrolysis of Tween 40, 60 and 80 were positive for both strains, while nitrate reduction, indole production, methyl red reaction and HS production were negative. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA and genome sequences revealed that strains W6 and I13 formed distinct phylogenetic lineages within the genera and , respectively.

Four halophilic archaeal strains were isolated from sea salt and a saline lake in China. Based on phylogenetic and phylogenomic analyses, the four strains are related to the genera of Halobellus, Halobaculum, and Halorarum within the family Haloferacaceae. The four strains possess genes responsible for carotenoid synthesis, maintenance of a high internal salt concentration, as well as diverse enzymes with biotechnological potential.
