Objective: To present the results of an ultrasound vascular cannulation (UGVC) training program for inexperienced operators using a training model.
Method: This was a descriptive observational study developed in the paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) of a third-level hospital. Operators received basic theoretical training in the USVC technique, followed by practical training with a model designed for USVC-inexperienced healthcare professionals.
Results: The study included 25 healthcare professionals, who carried out a total of 300 ultrasound-guided cannulation procedures (12 per participant) at equidistant sites on the longitudinal axis/in-plane (LA/IP) and the transverse axis/out-of-plane (TA/OP). The mean depth of cannulated vessels was 0.90 (0.34) cm and their mean diameter was 0.41 (0.1) cm. In 41.7% of cases, complete view of the needle (CVN) was accomplished; in 49% of cases, repositioning of the needle/guidewire (RNG) was necessary for successful UGVC. The rate of successful UGVC in the training model was 79.7%. The mean time required for the procedure was 74.70 (73.72) seconds. The time to successful cannulation was 58.72 (56.87) seconds. The mean number of attempts needed until successful UGVC was 1.31 (0.72). Complications were: (a) 26.3% vessel perforation/wrong guidewire positioning (VP/WGP) and (b) 4.3% successful vessel puncture followed by failure to accomplish subsequent cannulation.
Conclusions: Through the present theoretical-practical training program for inexperienced operators using a training model: (a) high success rates and short procedural times were attained; (b) complete view of needle and need for repositioning the needle/guidewire occurred in half of the procedures; and (c) complications occurred in a third of the procedures.

The Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT) is a classic test used to assess episodic verbal memory in research and clinical practice. We aimed to adapt the RAVLT materials into Russian, provide performance norms across the adult lifespan for the Russian adaptation, and develop a mobile application for automated RAVLT administration across languages. We created three psycholinguistically matched alternative versions of the RAVLT materials in Russian and incorporated them into a new tablet application.

Background: Doulas, non-clinical professionals who provide support throughout the perinatal period, can positively impact patient experiences and clinical outcomes during birth. Doulas often support hospital-based births without being employed by the hospital system, resulting in varied relationships with hospitals and clinicians. Systems-level changes are needed to maximize collaboration between hospitals and doulas to ensure facilitation of, and not barriers to, doula support.

This study examines the relationships among Foreign Language Learning Enjoyment (FLLE), L2 grit, academic burnout, and motivated behavior in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners, using a mixed-methods approach. A total of 534 Chinese undergraduate EFL learners participated in the quantitative phase, which used a cross-sectional survey, followed by narrative inquiry with 15 participants in the qualitative phase. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis revealed that FLLE positively influenced motivated behavior while reducing academic burnout.

Background: Primary healthcare has emerged as a powerful global concept, but little attention has been directed towards the pivotal role of the healthcare workforce and the diverse institutional setting in which they work. This study aims to bridge the gap between the primary healthcare policy and the ongoing healthcare workforce crisis debate by introducing a health system and governance approach to identify capacities that may help respond effectively to the HCWF crisis in health system contexts.
Methods: A qualitative comparative methodology was employed, and a rapid assessment of the primary healthcare workforce was conducted across nine countries: Denmark, Germany, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom/ England.
Introduction: Quality midwifery education is central to improving midwifery service delivery and maternal and newborn health outcomes. In many settings, midwifery educators insufficiently prepared for their teaching role and deficient curriculum compared to international standards affect the quality of healthcare provided by the midwifery graduates. This study assessed the effectiveness of an EmONC enhanced midwifery curriculum delivered by trained and mentored midwifery educators on the quality of education and student performance in Kenya.
