Background And Objective: Chest pain is one of the most common complaints in emergency departments (EDs). Self-reported computerized history taking (CHT) programmes can be used for interpretation of the clinical significance of medical information coming directly from patients. The adoption of CHT in clinical practice depends on reactions and attitudes to the technology from patients and their belief that the technology will have benefits for their medical care.

Leaf-cutting ants are evolutionary derived social insects with elaborated division of labor and tremendous colony sizes with millions of workers. Their social organization is mainly based on olfactory communication using different pheromones and is promoted by a pronounced size-polymorphism of workers that perform different tasks within the colony. The size polymorphism and associated behaviors are correlated to distinct antennal lobe (AL) phenotypes.

In this article, I figured out 'tuberculosis' as prominent example of relationship between introduction of western medicine and change of disease term. Tuberculosis is one of the examples of incomplete substitution of oriental/lay/non-scientific disease term by western/scientific disease term in colonial society. Western medicine practitioner in Korea had started to find and treat tuberculosis right after Koch's discovery of the tubercule bacillus (1882).

Sensory circuits are shaped by experience in early postnatal life and in many brain areas late maturation of inhibition drives activity-dependent development. In the newborn spinal dorsal horn, activity is dominated by inputs from low threshold A fibers, whereas nociceptive C-fiber inputs mature gradually over the first postnatal weeks. How this changing afferent input influences the maturation of dorsal horn inhibition is not known.

Background: The role of the neurotrophin regulated polypeptide, VGF, has been investigated in a rat spared injury model of neuropathic pain. This peptide has been shown to be associated with synaptic strengthening and learning in the hippocampus and while it is known that VGFmRNA is upregulated in dorsal root ganglia following peripheral nerve injury, the role of this VGF peptide in neuropathic pain has yet to be investigated.

Results: Prolonged upregulation of VGF mRNA and protein was observed in injured dorsal root ganglion neurons, central terminals and their target dorsal horn neurons.
