Background Objectives: In malaria infection, quantifying blood parasitemia is a critical step for evaluating the severity of the disease. This has generally been conducted manually, and thus, its accuracy depends on the expertise of technicians. There is an urgent need for an automated technique to overcome manual errors.

Alveolar echinococcosis (AE) is a serious parasitic infectious disease that is highly invasive and destructive to the liver and has a high mortality rate. However, currently, there is no effective targeted imaging and treatment method for the precise detection and therapy of AE. We proposed a new two-step targeting strategy (TSTS) for AE based on poly(lactic--glycolic acid) (PLGA).

This study proposes a green and efficient atom- and step-economical method for converting hazardous CS to dithiocarbamate derivatives under visible light irradiation and catalyst-free conditions. By the construction of novel C-S and C-N bonds, a series of β-dicarbonyl compounds and amines are incorporated into the products. Under light, CS and amine first form bis(dialkylaminethiocarbonyl)disulfides, which then react with KCO-activated β-dicarbonyl compounds to form electron donor-acceptor (EDA) complexes and subsequently generate the target products.

Anisometric plasmonic nanoparticles find applications in various fields, from photocatalysis to biosensing. However, exposure to heat or to specific chemical environments can induce their reshaping, leading to loss of function. Understanding this process is therefore relevant both for the fundamental understanding of such nano-objects and for their practical applications.

Anticounterfeiting technologies have become increasingly crucial due to the growing issue of counterfeit goods, particularly in high-value industries. Traditional methods such as barcodes and holograms are prone to replication, prompting the need for advanced, cost-effective, and efficient solutions. In this work, a practical application of anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membranes are presented for anticounterfeiting, which addresses the challenges of high production costs and complex fabrication processes.
