Laparoscopic partial splenectomy (LPS) is gradually becoming the preferred method for treating benign splenic lesions. However, due to the abundant blood supply and its soft, fragile tissue texture, especially when the lesion is located near the splenic hilum or is particularly large, performing partial splenectomy (PS) in clinical practice is extremely challenging. Therefore, we have been continuously exploring and optimizing hemorrhage control methods during PS, and we here propose a method to perform LPS with complete spleen blood flow occlusion.

Objective: The aim of the current study was to examine possible associations between gingival thickness and other parameters, such as crown length and width, papilla height and patient's age and gender.
Overview: This cross-sectional study included 238 consecutive white Caucasian consecutive patients in all stages of orthodontic treatment (before, in-course, and after orthodontic treatment). Measurements of gingival thickness were carried out at both central mandibular incisors, mid-facially on the buccal aspect of each tooth, and 2 mm apically to the free gingival margin, with an Ultrasound device.

Introduction: Acute appendicitis and acute cholecystitis are two of the most commonly encountered surgical entities. Multiple hypotheses are behind their coexistence, which include pathogen predilection, and mucosal ischemia inducing portal vein bacteremia as the management of uncomplicated acute cholecystitis and acute appendicitis is surgical, for which a single operation for synchronous presentation is effective. Here, we report a case with coexistent acute cholecystitis and acute appendicitis managed at our institution.

Esophageal cancer is the eighth most common cancer worldwide and the sixth leading cause of cancer-related deaths. In this study, we propose a novel esophageal stent equipped with a wireless, battery-free, and movable photodynamic therapy (PDT) unit designed to treat esophageal tumors with flexibility, precision, and real-time control. This system integrates a PDT unit and an electrochemical pneumatic soft actuator into a conventional esophageal stent.

Desmoid tumours are rare benign tumours that show locally aggressive and invasive features leading to potential complications. They can be quite challenging for the treating surgeon if they occur adjacent to neurovascular structures. The aetiology of these tumours is still unclear, but the incidence is higher in females and in patients with a history of trauma or surgical procedures, raising the possibility of genetic and hormonal factors as well as post-traumatic or post-operative inflammatory changes promoting the formation of desmoid fibromatosis.
