Pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect and major aortopulmonary collateral arteries (PA/VSD/MAPCAs) is complex and diverse that has led to a variety of treatment strategies. Experience has been largely obtained in the advanced countries. The clinical diversity is greater in China. We evaluated our surgical approaches and outcomes of these patients. We reviewed 127 patients undergoing varied surgeries in our center in 2010-2019. Thirty patients underwent single-stage complete repair by unifocalizing MAPCAs and VSD closure (aged 3.9-131.4 months, median 22) with 3 (10%) early deaths. Ninety-seven underwent the first-stage rehabilitation strategy including systemic-to-pulmonary shunt in 29 (aged 0.5-144 month, median 8), and palliative RV-PA conduit in 68 (aged 2.2-209.6 months, median 14) with 5 (5.2%) early deaths. Eight-one patients (63.8%) eventually achieved complete repair with a median right/left ventricular (RV/LV) pressure ratio of 0.7 (ranged 0.4-1.0). Fourteen patients (11.0%) accepted palliation as final destination. Survival for the entire cohort was 89.5, 85.2, and 76.1% at 1, 5, and 10 years, respectively. Survival for those undergoing complete repair was 88.2 and 76.6% at 1 and 5 year, respectively. RV/LV pressure ratio ≥0.8 was risk factor for mortality (HR10.3, = 0.003). Our cohort, the largest from China, had distinctive clinical features with substantially wider age range and higher RV/LV pressure ratio. Using the combined approaches tailored to individual patients, complete repair was achieved in 64% of patients. The early and intermediate outcomes are acceptable compared to many of the previous reports.

A 21-year-old man, known case of the repaired congenital heart disease, developed complete atrioventricular block (AVB) one week after simultaneous bioprosthetic pulmonary and tricuspid valve replacement and atrial septal defect repair. Considering the persistence of the AVB, it was decided to implant a permanent pacemaker. After considering all available options and the issues related to the patient, it was decided to implant a leadless pacemaker (LLP).

Background: The purpose of this study was to compare the outcomes of Trans-umbilical single-port laparoscopic complete extraperitoneal closure (LCEC) and laparoscopic intracorporeal closure (LIC) for inguinal hernia by analysis of follow-up data over 5 years.
Methods: In this prospective randomized controlled trial, 524 children with inguinal hernia were randomly assigned to undergo LCEC or LIC between August 2016 and December 2017. The primary outcome measures were the success and recurrence rates.
Huntington's Disease (HD), a progressive neurodegenerative disorder with no disease-modifying therapies, is caused by a CAG repeat expansion in the HD gene encoding polyglutamine-expanded huntingtin (HTT) protein. Mechanisms of HD cellular pathogenesis and cellular functions of the normal and mutant HTT proteins are still not completely understood. HTT protein has numerous interaction partners, and it likely provides a scaffold for assembly of multiprotein complexes many of which may be altered in HD.

Background: Meniscal injuries that fail to heal instigate catabolic changes in the knee's microenvironment, posing a high risk for developing posttraumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA). Previous research has suggested that human cartilage-derived progenitor cells (hCPCs) can stimulate meniscal repair in a manner that depends on stromal cell-derived factor 1 (SDF-1) pathway activity.
Hypothesis: Overexpressing the SDF-1 receptor CXCR4 in hCPCs will increase cell trafficking and further improve the repair efficacy of meniscal injuries.

Radiotherapy displays unique antitumor synergism with immune checkpoint inhibitors, which is indicated by high pathological complete response (pCR) rates from single-arm trials of locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). Here we test the efficacy and safety of the radiation-immune checkpoint inhibitor combination in patients with LARC in a phase 2, randomized trial conducted in eight major colorectal cancer centers in Beijing. In total, 186 eligible all-comer (proficient mismatch repair and deficient mismatch repair) participants were enrolled.
