Disulfiram is one of the most common agents used for the treatment of alcoholism. A study was made of disulfiram influence on the level of testosterone and spermiogenesis in 20 alcoholic patients during course therapy. The level of testosterone was investigated before treatment and 15 and 30 days after treatment with disulfiram at a daily dose of 0.5 g. Sixteen patients of the control group received tranquilizers. Ejaculation specimens were studied before treatment and 30 days after the onset of a therapeutic course. Disulfiram therapy was shown to cause the reduction of the level of testosterone as compared to its basal level and deterioration of spermiogenesis indices as compared to the controls receiving tranquilizers. It should be borne in mind during prolonged therapeutic courses.

Background: Many studies indicate that high and multiple doses of anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) for athletic enhancement can result in serious and irreversible adverse effects. A study that includes laboratory blood testing to evaluate the direct effects of AAS agents among users has not been previously undertaken. The purpose of this study was to investigate the adverse effects of the use of AAS by athletes and to determine whether AAS use leads to changes in certain blood parameters.

Introduction: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent endocrine disorder characterized by hyperandrogenism, insulin resistance, and menstrual irregularities, leading to infertility in many women. Emerging evidence suggests intermittent fasting (IF), particularly time-restricted feeding (TRF), may improve reproductive and metabolic outcomes in women with PCOS by addressing core pathophysiological mechanisms. This systematic review examines the impact of IF on fertility and reproductive hormones in women with PCOS.

Toxicol Appl Pharmacol

January 2025

Department of Preventive Medicine, Shantou University Medical College, Shantou 515041, Guangdong, China. Electronic address:

Background: Bisphenol F (BPF), a substitute for bisphenol A (BPA), is widely used in consumer products, increasing the potential for environmental exposure. Our study investigated the reproductive effects of BPF on adult male zebrafish and explored its toxicological mechanisms, as well as its intergenerational effects.

Methods: Adult male zebrafish were exposed to BPF concentrations of 0, 50, 500, 2500, and 5000 nM for 21 days.
