The influence of thermical treatment of pig liver on the concentration of water-soluble proteins was investigated. The latter can be partly separated by preparative thin-layer chromatography and characterized by UV-spectroscopy. The initial decrease in measurable protein content as a result of the denaturation was followed by a light increase. The latter was caused by an easier accessibility of the hydrophobe protein areas and by hydrolytical splitting of the proteins. The same assessment of quality is also valid for the model protein (bovine-serum albumin). The addition of glucose causes in both cases an intensive reaction between proteins and sugars--the result is in every case an increase in browning intensity.

Granular activated carbon (GAC) and GAC modified with anthraquinone-2-sulfonate (AQS) were used as conductive materials during the anaerobic digestion of swine wastewater (SW). The electron transfer capacity (ETC) in the GAC-AQS was 2.1-fold higher than the unmodified GAC.

Introduction: Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is a major pathogen that has caused severe economic losses in the swine industry. Screening key host immune-related genetic factors in the porcine alveolar macrophages (PAMs) is critical to improve the anti-virial ability in pigs.
Methods: In this study, an model was set to evaluate the anti-PRRSV effect of tylvalosin tartrates.

Edible films are significant in prolonging the shelf life of meat products. Herein, we prepared some edible coatings (EW/TNPCSs) based on egg white/chitosan/pectin as polymer matrix, containing tannic acid-nisin composite nano-crosslinker with antibacterial-antioxidant activities. The results of preservation indicated that the prepared EW/TNPCSs reduced the water loss of chilled pork and delayed the changes of taste, texture and surface color.

The widespread application of swine-farming wastewater to soil and water is increasingly contributing to heavy metal contamination, posing significant environmental risks. This study investigated the concentrations of eight heavy metals in swine-farming wastewater following different treatment processes, and assessed their ecological risks in Sichuan Province, China. The findings revealed that zinc, copper and nickel exhibited the highest concentrations, potentially causing heavy or strong contamination levels and leading to heavy or slight ecological risks.
