We report a seeded optical parametric generator (OPG) producing tunable radiation from 4.2-4.6 µm. The seeded OPG employs a 13 mm long (CSP) crystal cut for non-critical phase-matching, pumped by a nanosecond-pulsed, MHz repetition rate Raman fiber amplifier system at 1.24 µm. A filtered, continuous-wave fiber supercontinuum source at 1.72 µm is used as the seed. The source generates up to 0.25 W of mid-infrared (MIR) idler power with a total pump conversion of 42% (combined signal and idler).

Background: Uveal melanoma (UM) is the most common intraocular tumor in adults, arises either de novo from normal choroidal melanocytes (NCMs) or from pre-existing nevi that stem from NCMs and are thought to harbor UM-initiating mutations, most commonly in GNAQ or GNA11. However, there are no commercially available NCM cell lines, nor is there a detailed protocol for developing an oncogene-mutated CM line (MutCM) to study UM development. This study aimed to establish and characterize premalignant CM models from human donor eyes to recapitulate the cell populations at the origin of UM.

Here, we demonstrate that monocrystalline (free of stacking faults) wurtzite CdSe nanocrystals with monodisperse size, shape (dots, rods, or wires), and facet structure are synthesized in both strongly confined and weakly confined size regimes. Considering the unique -axis of wurtzite CdSe, we introduce a new type of neutral ligand (e.g.

Owing to the complicated geographical locations and climates, cultivation and selection of forage seeds are challenging. For the first time, we qualitatively distinguished the drought and cold resistance of forage seeds with the time domain and refractive index spectra using terahertz (THz) time-domain spectroscopy. A multilayer structure propagation (MSP) model was developed based on the effective medium and light transport theory to reveal the underlying biological mechanisms of drought and cold resistance of forage seeds.

Laser-powder bed fusion (PBF-LB) has enabled production of customised skeletal implants that incorporate porous lattices structures to enable bone ingrowth. However, the inherent surface roughness of PBF-LB, characterised by partially adhered particles and undulating sub-topography, remains a barrier to adoption. As such PBF-LB surfaces require several time-consuming post-processing steps, nevertheless, conventional finishing techniques are often limited by geometrical part complexity, making them unsuitable for porous PBF-LB parts.
